Why do people always talk about their pics not being so great? Why be so self-deprecating? Sure, some may be blurry, but I have yet to see anyone that could be classified as ugly or repulsive.
Great pics so far and we\'ve got some great-looking folks here. Just goes to show that even though there is a stereotype, it does always fit.

Egypt, SA? I am jealous 
I\'m sure a lot of it is quite touristy but no amount of souvenir shops and guys selling camel rides would dissuade me from seeing the remains of one of the most amazing civilizations ever.

The sphinxes are the little ram headed ones that lead the route between the two temple complexes in Luxor. There may have been as many as 900 of them in ancient times. If I were to reach back over the stone wall behind me in that photo I would touch the snout of one. So that\'s the scale they\'re at.
NSA: I got lucky for that trip as my husband was working there for few months and I got to visit him. The company brought me over rather than having to fly him home to visit us for a few weeks.
Egypt was pretty awesome for the ruins and tombs and such. It\'s just absolutely amazing what those people could build 5000 years ago. It\'s definitely worth a once in a lifetime trip.
The worst was the souvenir hustlers, swindlers and beggars that assaulted you everywhere. It was impossible to go for a walk down the street in Luxor or Aswan without being pestered by 20 people in one city block. Sure it\'s dirty, dusty and blazing hot but if there was one thing I could change about that whole trip, it would be the ability to go for a late night stroll without all that hassling.
But Gawd, the ruins are just mindbogglingly amazing, and they\'re everywhere. It\'s unfathomable, the sheer amount of ancient history in that place.

@angela - yes, hideous, i\'m sure (!) i went to egypt a few years ago. great isn\'t it? i was amazed by the quality of all the temples (although they do get a bit boring after your 20th in a row!!). stayed in luxor for a couple of days, karnak i massive isn\'t it?

183 = 72.0 and some change inches, or 6 feet for those of us who went to law school vince.
191 = 75. and some change inches, or 6 feet, 3 inches and some change in our base 12 system.
and I didnt do the other one cause I was feeling lazy.
You really want to have fun? Try doing archeological work, talking to someone who is digging a standard 1 meter grid square and talking about being 2 feet down - and then wants to tell you how many mm or cm the object they found is from the wall of the pit.
Makes my brain hurt doing all the conversions in my head.

I agree by the way that we should overhaul the system and move ahead in the states -
The best part about things around here is all the signs on base post speeds in Miles per Hour, and all the civilian vehicles are in Kilometers per Hour. Shows a lot of forethough on someones part, no?
