What a git it was to photograph my latest Iron Painter entry. Colours do not really show up as bright and punchy in the photo as they are in reality. Bah! Oh well, here it is. The theme this round was 'The next step' so I did this scene from LoTR.

Cheers, but I'm just not attached or enough in love with this scene to put it in competition. I think the Salute plan is:

Science fiction single figure - Henrietta Jekyll
Fantasy single figure - I have a few options here. Perhaps something I've done already, perhaps something new (Daemonsmith or Iron Painter round 3 entry if I make it that far?)
Fantasy wargames unit - Hordes Circle group (unless the commission on them falls through at the last minute)
Fantasy wargames monster - Some sort of Forge World nonsense

So... how many days until Salute? ;)

That whole scene is brilliant... I love the simplicity of the curved base and frame - it works so well.

Thanks for showing!

Sorry James, but the model for Sam looks like he's cracked off a wet one.
Not your fault I know.

Otherwise the false perspective idea works nicely.

I wish I had a tenth of your talent and all of your productivity....LOL

Another fantastic entry to the IP. You have already established yourself as a serious contender over there. I can't wait to see the inevitable clash of the painting titans!

'Cracked off a wet one!' :D Nice turn of phrase there. Hehe! I know what you mean, but I can only work with what's available. In the case of LoTR models, that's always a bit of a struggle.

Thank you for the compliment Supervike. I guess ideas and quirky takes on things have always been the thing I'm strongest at in mini painting, so Iron Painter really suits me in that respect. Need to pump up my technical precision though as others have the edge on me there for sure unless I really push myself.

As for clash of the titans - this coming round is certainly a biggie. Magno has some real skills. I'm putting in way more effort with this entry than the other rounds combined. As much of next week as possible is set aside for work on it. Course, I'm having a change of heart and reconsidering my entry. Do I go with my first idea, which is takes a more themey/story approach rather than just looking at 'three colours only' as a technical approach, or do I try and push the technical side with a simpler, but much more refined monotone with one spot colour paint job... Both could look great. Both will be challenging in their own way.

And don't worry, I know you can't advise! Just wish Magno would submit his entry already!

Nope, I'm sticking with my first idea. It's a solid one, I'm sure it'll do well if I do a good job of it. There, that's decided. Goodo!

No IP work tomorrow, but, if all goes well, 11 extra models added to the count, 6 of them biggies. Best get myself to bed to be fresh for that.

All did not go well! My alarm didn't wake me up so I slept in, then had a major load of house sorting to do. Only managed to get these totally finished, although there are two Carnifexes, some Wolf Rats and a Vermin Lord frustratingly close. The count is up to 51 now.

Heading off for a weekend with the girlfriend tomorrow, so I have already stayed up too late tonight. No more painting until Sunday for me.

Yeah, they aren't my best, but hoping to make up for that over the next few weeks as I have lots of high quality stuff to get sorted.

I just pulled an all nighter, working from 11pm until 7am painting up my entry for the third round of Iron Painter 8. Got it done in time though, which is kinda miraculous considering it wasn't even primered when I got going.

The theme this round was 'Only three colours'. There's a big old description of it at the votey link - http://www.coolminiornot.com/303660
