Thanks man:) I'm considering this as done now. Starting out with the terminators tonight, or tomorrow depending on if I'm drinking beer tonight:)

Yeah, beer is The remedy. Or as Homer once said "Alcohol is the reason and solution to all our problems". Drinking the first beer as I speak:D I had second thougts though because I want to get the army done so badly. I wont be good for painting until monday:p

Obviously. I just mix some beer in the HB because I like the extra flavour! It would be a very interesting experiment to paint a mini while being drunk. Not to mention that I'd be able to give a reason to why I was home drinking on a tuesday:p

I've found some time to paint and I'm about half way done with my regular chaos marine squad. Actually the icon bearer is missing, going to paint him when I paint my fw marines.
So what's left is some tyding up and edge highlights. I've painted them "assembly line" and there are a couple of stages missing on most of the skulls. For some reason I keep forgetting to do them:p

They feel a bit "meh" right now. Not happy at all. Hoping that once I'm done with edge highlighting I'll feel ok about them.

Also there have been some changes to my army list. It has, for one thing, jumped to 2000p. If anyone's interested you can view it below:) Appriciate any thougts on it, except "more rhinos", I'm not building and painting any more rhinos:p

^^ First I'll finish these guys, then my lord and then I'm going to finish the conversionwork I've started on the land raider, and slap paint on it. THEN I'm going to start with the terminators. Do not consider this order of work of any significance though, considering how true I've stayed to my previous statements about "this being finished then. Doing this, then that."

I've made some other progress aswell that's no less significant than painting mini's. I've finally been allowed to display my mini's in the apartment:D It's in a hid away corner in the bedroom, still though!:D

Just a teeny weeny update. I started to highlight my marines but after the champ it felt too unispiring. Instead I started to paint on my lord. I started with the cloth and it feels like I made quite a lot of progress. I've basically I've applied shades mapping how I want the light to fall on the cloth. Once I've began with the lighter areas I think there'll be a nice contrast to it. I want it to be purple but not "purple". Can probably go a bit darker on the shades aswell, but I'll wait and see until i'm done with the highlights

Feedback, tips etc more than welcome.

And as with all the fw stuff I've got the detail is insane, it's a 28mm sculpt, christ.

Pate your work keeps me wanting more and more to do something Nurgle.
For a while you couldn’t but throw a stone without seeing someone making or painting death guard or Nurgle.
But your work is top notch in my opinion and has inspired me.

So I ordered something from FW. It came last weekend. I started clean up and work on it.

I still am amazed at how your dread came out.

Keep up the amazing work!
I will keep watching and being inspired.

Hi Pate, for a fancy mini like this let's see some smooth even basecoats. That green looks to have gone on a bit patchily! :)

For the purple I'd suggest getting in there with the shade & catching all those unpainted little spots that photos so helpfully blow up :) They'll be a pain to get to once there are highlights you don't want to spoil in place.

What colours are you going to bring up the purple with? I've been using Kommando Khaki, Rotting Flesh, Bleached Bone & the like of late. I had a horrible experience with Warlock Purple & White a while back & painted a Beastman's sword hilt that looked like a candy cane :D

I hope you do justice to that boil on his nostril!

Cheers, B.

Thanks folks:)

Tee999, thanks man:) I'm getting more pleased with the dread as time passes, usually it's the other way around. Going to be fun to see what you've bought:D If it's the Plague Hulk... I want that>,< Got no room for it in my army though, and i still got lots of stuff to finish:)

BPI, the green base coat will be "completed" for each specific area I work on. What's a real bitch though is that I'm colorblind to a certain degree, where green and grey are my... grey areas. So It can be a bitch spotting areas I've missed at times. Blowing the mini up like this helps though:) What's awesome about this mini is that it actually costs less than your average gw-metal character mini! I wont be using white, I think hawk turqoise, I've mixed it in the shadows. It's not very appearent but it's there. I have no idea really, I'm just painting as I go:)

Another very small update. It's a quite important one though, I want your feedback before I move on. Personally I like it, but I don't think that's much to go by. I've started to bring up the cloth with desert yellow. I've also "highlighted" the shadows with blue in some areas. As I said it's a very small update, I don't think you'd notice much difference if you just had a quick glance at this picture and the last one. But if you look, it's there:p Unfortunatly there's quite a bit of glare, especially around the left knee area. I'll push the highlights further in order to create contrast, all the way to bleached bone for the extreme highlighs, but before I go there, yeah, like I said; feedback:) You should know that the armor is going to be green. The armor, just like the cloth, is going have subtly blue/turqoise shaded shadows. I'm going to paint the entire mini heavily shadowed, I think it's going to turn out nice. I'm wanting to experiment with minimal lighting. I want him to look like he's reeking of evil!:D

Here's the pic

And about blendings etc, please keep in mind that this picture is magnified atleast x10 (on 1366*768).

i think i see it, i think i see it... no wait, i dont see it...:monkey:

...but, for your own sake i suggest you start out with a darker green colour if you head for extreme darkness, and work with more extreme highlights, why settle with bleaced bone? i almose ever end up with my pure white acrylic at the top.
