Ok a little tiny update:
I'm still working on the plates to get to the point where I'm happy with them. The lack of colours is driving me crazy since I have 0 yellows (if you are wondering I'm using a Japanese Uniform + Offwhite ..), a couple of reds and blue. I'm doing everything with those few colours mixing them with offwhite or black. It has been fun though. So as I told you I was working on those black areas you didnt like. So as you suggested I added a little something to them and to a general scheme I am now following. Some burning darkness won by the purity of those saint warriors! ahahaah

Not much to say as I couldn't even come close to your gorgeous freehand. Keep at it as you are making a piece of art.

Just as a suggestion, could you perhaps brighten up the skulls on the left thigh pad? I couldn't tell they were skulls in flame until th close up. Not sure whether you were planning on doing this anyway.

Ill never get tired of looking at your awesome freehand though. True talent

Thank you very much. Do not say you would not be able to even come close, what I've done so far is really nothing special, just a little bit of patience :)

Thank you for your suggestions, are very welcomed. I'm always looking forward to good advices and I'm listening. I am planning to brigthen them a little bit, even though I want them to stay a bit dark.
As you will see I'm adding colours to the flames and the overall paintings. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with metals since I really don't like them ahahah.

I've adjusted a little bit the golden parts that looked way too flat, today I'm packing the big boy and trying to plan what I'm going to do for the base. I need some serious help with it D: !

Man, just found out your thread today and I'll still trying to get my jaw back in place after seeing your freehand! :O

For the base, lot of people love to works with cork board to create rock pattern. It's easy to get very nice looking results with a simple base coat, dry brush and, in your case, some space marines bits.

hahaha thanks but it's nothing special !
So, yesterday I went to the painting club I left when I splitted from my ex and brought the little fella with me. They suggested me to work on a simple round base I bought. The owner of the shop though told me just 2 things looking at the freehand all over: "Dream Big".
So at one point I had this crazy idea that will 100% end on something really bad from my side. I will try to do a gigantic freehand on the base about grey knights and daemons, maybe in the shape of a mosaic or just painted on some floor or just a big nonsense painting on the ground I still don't know. Let's get crazy and dream big ahahahaha

Ok so, instead of doing whatever today I had to do I actually went full crazy as I wanted to see how this could turn into...
So yeah, I got a little crazy over this, still a lot to do but my brain is steaming after 10 hours painting xD

Every suggestion is as always welcome

Cool, but if you really want to get crazy you could carve an opening and insert red LED's for the demons eyes. Lol

I'll try it!
Meanwhile yesterday night I was able to work on it a little bit more, not much progress but it's popping out!

Base is looking awesome. I can't paint a 3D grey knight as well as you paint a 2D one.

hahah it's not true come on, your works are awesome!
Anyway I'm back from a short festival, as soon as I can catch up with some sleep I will go back at it :D

Ok while working on the Imperial Knight and the base I felt like changing subject for a bit. It sometime helps me get more inspiration (aka will to continue any long project).
What's better to paint if you want to break from that gigantic robot?

Ahahah
And I found out my Vallejo Silver is so dry i could mold it into a ring. Thanks god yesterday I went to a shop and found a Medium Silver, I think it summons daemons to fix all the silver parts because it helped a lot ahaha. The model is almost done, I had to put it into a generic base to avoid any other fall (poor thing). I need to highlit and finish the power sword and some minor blendings and I think I'm done with it. So cool to have models done in less than 2 days damn

Hello there, after my Grey Knight Paladin I opened a box I sealed after the moving containing all the things I have left and I found this guy primered in a corner... from an era long forgotten!
Its a Citadel Failcast, I realized not only I did not smooth it at all but it was so damn full of holes and bubbles and parts wrongly casted that it has been a nightmare since this model is so full of tiny details. I tried my best to recover it but some parts were beyond saving, I proceeded nonetheless since I love Wulfrik background so much.
I will try to find a metal Wulfrik in the future and do a better job maybe, I'm happy with some of the results and a bit of crazyness over the rusty parts using citadel's Martian texture ahahah
I still need to work on the base, any suggestion is much appreciated! (I figure him as a man of the sea, wandering from the frozen north to wherever the challange is, no rest for the poor northman)
I couldnt find a better way to capture all the colours of the model with a photo so I had to take it outside with the sunlight for a closer look of the real model.

As you can see the face is so different from the GW boxart, mine was full of holes....

Hey there, so a friend from the club I'm in insisted me to send the piece around some contests...
...I'm kinda unsure but at the end I'm packing it and preparing to possibily not see my gigantic friend for a long time.
I started him in a dark period and I got back at it after all this time and stuff that happened. It means a lot to me and I'm going to send it to these contests with a sentence that follows me since then: In Darknes I shall be Light. Basically the whole theme of the model and my life recently.
I'm kinda sad I couldnt manage to take proper pics of it, if I ever get him back not too much damaged I'll be glad to post them here.
Say goodbye to my old fella !
