I like music!

What kind of music do you people like? From experience, I have found that most people in the mini painting hobby prefer some genre of metal, though this may be a generalization.

I personally enjoy classic and hard rock (The Beatles, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, etc.), punk (The Ramones, The Clash, The Dead Kennedys [it is spelled that way], The Exploited, The Misfits, etc.), funk/soul (James Brown/Wild Cherry, Earth Wind and Fire, Edwin Starr), ska (The Toasters, the Specials, Skankin Pickle, The Suicide Machines, The Aquabats, etc.), and a couple others (Cake, White Stripes, Talking Heads, Michael Jackson, Prince, Nick Drake, Andrew Bird, David Byrne).

I like just about anything except rap, pop, metal, or emo, though I hold nothing personal against people if they do. So, what say all of ye?

I like mostly electronic music, industrial stuff. When painting I listen to slow atmospheric music like dark ambient, softer electronica or breakbeat. Otherwise, I like harsh, pounding stuff with lots of noise in it.:D

I also listen quite a lot to early goth and new wave, some early punk, some late 80s/early 90s indie (pre-britpop) and some older rock like Bowie, Iggy Pop, Roxy Music, stuff like that.

i\'m really not a big metal fan...most metal bands sound like they searched for the person wiht the worst singing voice they could find, and then got \'em to just scream (IMO only, folks, i\'m not having a go at you nice folks who do like this stuff ;))

metal i like: tool, metallica, megadeth, NIN and orgy

as to the rest, well...APC (maynard is a legend), the distillers, the scissor sisters, jet, the tea party, the hilltop hoods, cypress hill, love outside andromeda, pink floyd, the doors, the killers, muse, placebo, U2, just to name a few of the few hundred bands i listen to...

My wife got me into medieval music. Some of my favorite groups are La Maurache, the York Waits, Hesperion XX and Wolgemut and almost anyone who does a Mass based on l\'Homme Arme. If you like squeeky, high-pitched buzzy music with bizzare rhythms you just might like this stuff. I also like Devo and the B-52\'s. They\'re kind of buzzy and high-pitched, too.

I can\'t argue that a band like Cryptopsy doesn\'t sound like that...

The only music I can think of that I don\'t like is Rap and that crappy dance stuff from the 90\'s like 2-unlimited.

Generally though I tend to listen to rock most of the time.

I usually listen to old school punk, Slipknot, System of a Down, At the Drive-in, or the Blood Hound Gang. I hjave found that my painting is more controlled when I listen to Radiohead.

No, you can\'t. And that is the beauty of Crytopsy (and their fellow Canadians Kataklysm).

I like a lot of stuff, but in my most listened to collection I have:

Pink Floyd (especially the Pulse album)
Queen (greatest hits 2, and to a lesser extent 1)
The Lion King collection
Savage Garden
Bon Jovi
various eighties stuff (aha, duran duran, things of that nature, generally)
Shadow Gallery (earlier albums)
Dream Theater (Images and Words album)
Beach boys and similar stuff (that comes from my dad\'s influence).

Generally anything with clean lyrics that I can sing along to :D

I also like a lot of soundtracks, especially:

Star Wars
Star Trek (from the films)
Ennio Morricone (sp?) stuff
Braveheart and last of the mohicans. :D

I am not a fan of really heavy stuff, goth stuff or the Scissor Sisters (who must die, messily with sharp things in their heads!! For butchering Comfortably Numb:flame:;))

Regards

Kat
