Getting better with every post. The stance of these last couple guys is very natural, yet convey combat action.

Magic sculpting update.
The right foot got chopped off and re-aligned. The left foot got a bit of an extension. The back of the left knee was padded. Added barrels to the rifle and sleeves to the arms.

I added bulk to the thighs, put on the shoulder pads with a little bit of weathering and started on the next gun. Being closer to completing these first three I'm starting to consider what's next so input is welcome. Do you think it should be more regular dudes, command, support, specialists, heavier types or what? Suggestions will be met with deadly gratitude.

Having just gone through the whole thread can definatly see an improvement. On your armour plates try scraping them smooth with a sharp scalpel blade, this will help crispen the edges and smoothness of the plates.
Keep up the great work

Thanks for the tip and the nice encouragement. I'll try to do as you ask when I cut them up (if and when).

Nice progress, looks a little pencil necked in the latest photos.

The FOW figs look nice as well.

Thanks KruleBear! It's actually a piece of epoxy :D for the tabs. I need to dig up some bases to do them...

Here's some sculpting. Working on the third rifle and started on a 1:100 IDF modern (colloquial 15mm).

Working more with brown stuff now. Too bad they're stopping to make it (or so I heard).

The soles will be shaved after it cures.

A picture for comparison with the 1:56 planetFaller. It's so tiny!!!

Got this cute tool for gouging lines.

Here are three generations side by side. The bottom one is the latest with the scribed details added.

Super sculpey press mold for creating copies that I can then work on.

du9wYwI.jpg

That's it for now. I've got some putty curing inside the mold right now. I want to see if I can get some nicer, cleaner details somehow either by modifying the mold or doing some work on the cast or both or more things.

Nice work on the smaller scale ! if the sculpy mould doesn't work try instant mould (watch the tutorials before using) keep up the good work !

Thank you for the compliment and the tip. The sculpey mold seems to not be the way to go because I need to extract the master while it's "wet" and that deforms the mold. I think I'll do kneadatite molds because then the mold can cure with the master inside of it. I'm not sure about this insta-mold business though. Will it pick up details well enough? Will it maintain it's shape well enough to produce a cast I can use as a master?

Sculpt update. Changelog:
Right arm, sleeve, hand, straps. Attached rifle. Added radio module thingamijig on left side of belt. Added clasps to backpack.

Looking at him now, I think that again, the thighs are too thin. I'll need to do some more corrective sculpting on there. I really enjoy the way he looks, though. With the other two they look really cute.

The instant mould I've used holds all the detail, and dosn't need a release agent like kneadite moulds. The one thing to be carful of is applying too much pressure when squeezing the two halves together as you can make thin spots but the same can be said with a kneadite mould

Hmmm... sounds pretty good. I'll take it into consideration if I see that I have a great enough need for it.

Here's an update:

pKqAGoO.jpg

Looks kinda neat now.

Though I'm starting to wonder about the pose of the left foot.

From here it looks great.

I have no idea how I sculpted the clasp on the leg drop rig.

Yet more bigger thighs than ever before. Also, shoulder pads, barrel of rifle and check out this sweet epoxy I got in the mail (ordered direct from the manufacturer and it came in really fast!).

So yeah, that's almost it with three planetFallers. There's still the matter of the base tab and not forgetting there's quite a bit to do if I want to cast them in terms of cutting them up and fitting them back together.

I'll probably try the PC out later this week. I don't have an armature lying around but I want to also do a styrene build experiment. A one-off that I can paint and everything so it'll fit together nicely.
