I\'m very limited with computer time right now, and wont even be home until tuesday, but I can remember at least one Jeff didn\'t get. :) Sorry, I guess that\'s all until GW coverage.

Fantasy Large
John Ho (gold)

It was my favourite GD that I\'ve been to, I was front and (near) centre for Jeremie\'s seminar and was able to converse with some people whose talents I really admire. I didn\'t get to meet you Hako :( I found it hard not to shout out your account name at the seminar. :D

oh

are those primarchs above full sculpts or mods (ie. the body armour looks like it could be modded from the plastic space marines)...

I wish you had! lol I was sitting in the 2nd row, on right of the aisle. I showed up 45 minutes early to make sure I got a good seat. Man, that was time well spent.

Sanjay, I believe that only the third picture is actually a Primarch (Fulgrim). The top picture appears to be Kharn pre heresy (and very cool at that) and the second picture is Captain Loken from the novels. This one was done by Tom Schadle and posted on his website earlier this month. I think the primarchs are actually quite a bit larger in scale from what I have heard so they are probably more sculpted or heavily converted from the inquisitor scale Marine.

Primarch Project

Hey folks - James Craig here - I did Alpharius and will have a pile of exclusive pictures of the primarchs on my site www.lostinthewarp.com (though you will likely be waiting till saturday before I will get home to Canuckistan and post them.)

They are larger than regular marines as is appropriate to the concept and descriptions of the primarchs but are not based on the Inquisitor marines - Generally they are extensive sculpts.

I am really proud with what the team was able to accomplish with this project. It was really something different - as our special project was only really in a couple of categories we couldnt possibly all win - instead we all grouped together to make a great and interesting shared visual statement. I think we succeeded and It was really a ton of fun!

On the primarch project--there were both primarchs and pre-heresy heros. For example in the photos posted earlier, the first photo is Kharn before the heresy.

The actual primachs were all fully scuplted, not mods. They were BIG, between 48 mm to 54 mm to the eyes. They dwarfed Jeremie\'s harlequin. I am hoping that the GW guys got photos of them all and put them together in WD so we can see the full scope and beauty of the project. Also, it looks like most of the Primarchs were on Dragon Forge wood display plinths that also helped unify the effort.

There were many high quality forgeword seige of vraks models. There were two Beserker Ogryn squads that were very well done, several Death Corp., including Nathan Comanse\'s heavy tank with DKK infantry (including some grenadiers) riding on top and Matt\'s brilliant Death Rider.

Matt was incredibly happy to have placed in 40k singles with a stock model, no conversions. He was competing against primarchs after all, but his piece was very compelling and it was a well deserved bronze in a tough, tough category.

My own Vraks renegade sergeant also made first cut in 40k (nothing close to Jeremie or Chris or Matt\'s skill so they have nothing to fear from me), but it made me very happy to have my mini share the case with such awesome pieces.

I have been going to US Games Days since \'98 and can definitively say that this was the best ever in terms of quality. Even with the European\'s coming over, the quality of the U.S. entries jumped dramatically this year across the board. I am certain CMON has had a big effect on this. I have had the wonderful opportunity to meet several CMONs IRL, including Alan C., Manumilitar, Borgio, Werwolf and others while in France in June (they were not in Chicago) and Jeremie, Matt, Joe Orteza, Tom Schladle and Mike Butcher and others (who were in Chicago) over the weekend . Many of the \"stars\" in mini-painting are very happy to talk with those of us with little talent and pass on tips and critiques. This collegiality has helped spiral up quality.

FYI, I also saw Jen Haley hanging out with Team North America, though she did not enter. Too busy with pro stuff, I guess.

I did not have a camera, so I cannot help with pics. Sorry to be such a tease with only prose.

Hey there guys!

Cathy and I were able to complete our mission of keeping some of that Golden Demon hardware right here in Chicago!:D

Cathy won a bronze for her Chaos spawn (pics coming soon).

I was able to win a gold for my converted Grey Knights terminators, a silver for a regiment of saurus riders on cold ones, and a bronze for a daemon prince conversion.

I was also able to win a neat trophy in the artwork contest. I spent a few hours there drawing to work off nervous energy!

Here are some pics to tide you over until I get them posted to CMON proper.

The termies:

I also had a scratch sculpted dreadnought that I will be posting. Made first cut in the open category.

Wow, I just love your style of painting James! Excelent work! The Primarch project was just brilliant...it would be a shame not to feature it in WD.

Congratulations to all those who won daemons of any colour. That\'s some nice work, Wappellious. Any chance you could post a pic of your winning artwork as well?
