I have found that gs'ing for the rough bits and then doing the last surface filling with Revells Plasto, it is very very easy to sand to a smooth surface, a thing i cant say about green stuff.

I havnt tried the new liquid greenstuff GW has released, maybe its the answer

Finally, some progress on this behemoth. After the fiasco, I'm lucky I didn't give up altogether.

Here's where I am on the head

A body shot, after stripping it all off and re-doing it

I've decided to use rust on a portion of the metals

I'm fairly happy with it overall now, I'll have pics up of the riders soon as well.

Mar - I just got the liquid green stuff in with my necrons. It rocks! I love the stuff! GW did something right. lol!

Elrick - He's looking very nice! What are you using for your rust effects?

Oh, I don't want to throw a monkey wrench into the works but I can see a gap on his back, where the howdah attaches - under the back tusk. But don't strip him! Just get some apoxie clay, milliput, or similar, fill it, then use some brush on primer and you're good to go. Because it's on fur, as long as you sculpt with the fur growth you won't have to sand it.

I cut off the bristles almost all the way of some trash brush, and just used a dark brown, snakebite leather and then fiery orange and forcefully "stippled" it onto the metal :p. I didnt thin the paint at all as I was looking for that grungy rust look and it turned out the way I want it so ya cant beat that!

Holy crap...I cant believe I didnt see that... I went right into the painting room to investigate and yep...pretty much a gap. Luckily that one is an easy fix, ive look at this mini for so long how could i possibly have missed that lol. It's weird, looking at it form the back it doesnt look like a gap at all, its just where the howdah is laying over the fur, theres no actual space in between. From the side though, its definitely a gap haha. Thanks for catching that!

hehe...it did it to me too, that's why I knew where to look. :D But yes, it shouldn't be too much of a problem to fix.

Well now that the holidays are over for now, I was able to finally assemble my lychguard. Unfortunately one of the swords was somehow cast upside down and backwards which means I had to be a little creative and make one of them hold their weapon in the left hand. Sigh, I think I'm cursed....pics inc soon of the thundertusk progress and necrons. Right after I eat turkey for dinner, AGAIN ><

EDIT: Here we go, pics of the necrons (assembled only, no filling done yet)

Here are the thundertusk riders

Closeup of where I am so far with the head, few minor details and cleanup to be done still

And the big boy, worked on the leather. Need to dirty it up still though and go back and reshade the skin and fur

Heya Elric - look at the box, one of them does hold the sword upside down and backwards. I almost made the same mistake. ;)

Tusker is looking good! Can't wait to see the shading and highlights.

HAHAHA NOOOOO, its not on the box that i see but I looked in my WD from last month and there it is, staring me in the face. Oh well, now i have a unique selling point for this crew I guess :p

Hehe, the upside down sword looked daft anyways your solution is much cooler.

And the tusker will look grest once shading is applied

Ya im kinda with you on this one marj, I mean I fit it together with blu tac and it just looked a little dumb to me. I wanted to make some of the poses look somewhat dynamic like they were charging into a fight, and that guy just looked like he was about to show the ground what for. Progress as of late has been so slow, mostly just laying down basecoats, but I really need to get this thing done, its been way too long and I dont wanna reach the dreaded "screw this im bored of it" stage I always seem to get to before I finish.

Well its been one difficult journey to get this beast done, but im calling it good. There are of course some things I see now that I'd want to fiddle with, but im resisting the urge. He's going to go up on ebay soon, so we'll see how it's received. I think i figured it out...votey link for anyone interested http://www.coolminiornot.com/294955

Well the thundertusk sold and will be on his way to his new owner tonight! Now on to the next project, which was hard to decide because i got alot of FW eldar stuff for xmas that I really wanna paint but these guys have been sitting around waiting for a couple months now. This is the basic color scheme, the gold is only basecoated so far, the power source is done on all figs (only pics taken of one) OSL is coming along but not completely finished. The helm will be black as will a couple of other pieces, the silver metal has been basecoated and washed with a blue+smokey ink mix. Any C&C is always welcome! Sorry for the low light in the pics, my ottlites are going out on me!
