Aha! I shall see your 115.65GBP and raise it to 128.39GBP! That's what it costs here. You guys in NZ don't know how lucky you are... :D:D:D:D

Wasn't Man-O-War a complete flop???

I like the mini's but, don't like the game.

Would love to see remake of Dark future......but make it more 40k based.

A couple of road section tiles, Adeptus Arbites as the cops, and some general necromunda stlye guys as the villains.

As much as I'd love to buy this game, Talisman The Dragons expansion is just released at £30, its a bit more affordable than the new GW game. Talisman is a game that is much closer to my heart so it gets my cash :)

The wife loves this game too so heres to remembering the other half in the gaming jungle lol

I think dreadfleet looks and sounds great. I looooved man o war back in the day, and ship to ship games are almost allways fun.

The minis are very nice and will be huge fun to paint....

And you get to say yaarjgh alot lo,

I don't recall hearing negative reviews of Man'O'War, just a lot of gushing praise. That Dark Future on the other hand, dire. Every game the same, every turn even. Weirdly got an expansion in White Line Fever that failed to improve it any significant way. Only decent products for it were the series of novels. Very characterful, and tweaked a geeky nipple with mention of Nurgle and Khorne by one character, supplanting the chance to extrapolate the idea that the Chaos Gods were known to humanity in that kinda Warhammer2K period.

This week the GW site has had an article a day on this Dreadfleet. More tiresome John Blanche artwork, though in one I swear he used a blue paint. Maybe he mistook it for a black one.
The example game doesn't suggest it's a particularly tactical game. More of a post-pub "lets just fuck about with dice" kinda game. Where Man'O'War had fleets of ships with standard abilities (standard to their race at least), these one off big ships from various races making up fleets of goodies vs baddies more appears like a ruck of special characters.

I used to play MoW a lot "back in the day" a lot of fun especially collecting all the ships and scratch building sea forts etc, though this new game doesn't have the collecting appeal as it is a one off and totally unrelated to any other game - unlike the re released space hulk, at least the figures could be used in 40k games

So what will be next? bearing in mind "one off" seems to be the way they are going with their limited edition releases..... my money would be on a "Heroquest" re-release by next christmas...big box full of goodies nice new plastic sculpts etc etc...and limited until sold out...:)

You probably won't see one next year as there will probably be two big box releases next year in the shape of the hobbit and wh40k sixth edition

I wouldn't imagine the Hobbit will be out until 2013, as there will be a ton of NDA stuff on images and background. Really doubt that they will bring the game out a year before the film. I think Warhammer Quest would be more likely than Heroquest as I'm not sure what level of ownership GW has on the Heroquest IP, whereas Quest is theirs. Also, not too sure if a load of plastic models in a big box that can be used in other games and will potentially take away sales from regiment boxes is where they want to go. It may be, but I wouldn't be shocked if it turned out to be Necromunda instead, with some cool plastic scenery and a couple of gangs.

The hobbit comes out in December 2012 and wouldn't be surprised to see GW release it then to try to milk the fatted calf for all it's worth to prop things up. Allegedly GW are already nearly done with the sculpts for it. Also GW don't release the standalones in a big box year, neither space hulk nor dread fleet have clashed with a core game year. GW uses the boxes to balance there like for like in non core years.

If PP's new scifi skirmish game is indeed going to be necromunda like then yes I can see GW going for necromunda after dread fleet seems like trying to grab some of Spartans cake.

Ah, I've mixed up my years on The Hobbit. Goodo, thought I had longer to wait for it (the film I mean, I'm not fussed about the GW game).

Oh my!! Bloomin' madness that is.

6th?!? Never played 4th and played 5th over one weekend. I've lately been buying up 2nd edition box sets for some unhatched plan... I suppose a new edition is the best way to up the ante from the single paint I've bought in the past 6 months. My Space Wolves would be terribly upset if I didn't pickup every further codex until the day I die...

I must admit that seeing Dreadfleet on Sunday, I was actually really impressed. You get six very full sprues of miniatures and scenery, a "play mat" and various cards along with the rule book. Although John Blanche's artwork isn't for everyone, the rulebook is packed with art and fluff.

The price is high but so is the quantity and quality of the bits you get. In the grand scheme of things it's a lot of cash for a board game. Me and my brother are sharing the cost which makes it a much more respectable £35 each :)

I got space hulk and took it to the store to play last week and told i i cant because its not a supported title. The same will happen with this. No support for specialist games at all. I doubt they will support this with additions. So the game looks gorgeous but not for me.

my 2 pence

That just seems jolly sad. I understand there is no immediate/direct commercial benefit to allowing such instore what with finite space and staffing but crikey it still strikes me as terribly mean spirited.

That does it I'm going out for coffee.

It's become a general policy amongst GW stores that even on Veterans nights(*) non-core games aren't welcome.

(*And that term is in itself a laugh as adults seem to be getting less welcome in stores; unless of course they are just money cows to be milked.)

I would say not being able to play space hulk has more to do with the fact its not available - new guy asks 'ooh that is cool where can I get it?' GW 'Sorry no longer available...'

I think I just realized why I've never set foot in a real GW store. (besides the fact that I've never seen one.).

You can only play games here with our current product.
If the product is discontinued, you cannot play it here anymore.
If we sell a single run of a new game, you cannot play it here, it is "not supported."

Have I got that about right?
