My Malifaux minis along with some secret weapon washes arrived, yay.. might give abaddon a shot again
Anyway those minis look incredible so I am doing my best to not let them down!
I spent about 3 hours on the basecoat, after I read about how important it is >.<

did some glazing to smoothe out the colours.. the picture really makes it look sharper than it really is
I think I gotta do some research on taking good photos of minis..
I also feel like I have begin painting in "another way" lately, feels weird breaking the habit of washing.
I've also started to understand why painting these little guys take so much time..

any kind of of constructive critisism or feedback is really appreciated

thanks yes, its tricky especially when you dont know what base colour to use for the fire
I wish I based it orange or yellow

Looks good. The colour spread and blends are well proportioned. But if you want to make it 'glow'. You'll need some white in there as well, especially in the thicker part at the top. Having a little more variance between sections would also help defining the shape a little, that it's not completely the same colour all over, that is, if you're up for that. :p

Hi there. First let me say, you have some very nice work and I am very impressed in how quickly you paint and are improving.
As for the flames, I would highly reccomend to start going back into the yellows with more white and make some orange/red glazes with a slight hint of purple in it to go over the tips of the flames. All in all, a cracking good job.

I've been wanting to order some malifaux mini's myself, they do look incredible, looking forward to seeing them painted!
For the fire, it's really hard, I think there is no 'correct way' to do it, I like the fire on the base (first pictures) more than the lighter yellowy fire. I kinda like a more red fire because I think it looks 'hotter'. If you like reading, handcannononline posted an article on painting fire, maybe it'll help you :)
You are doing a great job, keep it up

thanks for the kind words, I've really been pushing myself to the limit the last month and it's kind of true that practice makes perfect when it comes to painting minis or anything really, it feels like over the last month I've "gotten to know" acrylic paints..

as for the fire, I'm putting her on hold for a while as I'm scared to overdo it, I think I've learned alot from painting fire as you basically need to think aloot about what paints to use, how it will react with the basecoat and how to blend in 3 colours while keeping contrast and the dark areas dark.. it's easy to get frustrated.. I've also learned the importance of glazes which I didn't really understand up until now

You should grab malifaux minis, they got some damn hot chicks, I've got Colette du bois and Lilith..

at the moment I'm playing around with another Warjack (I love to paint them) also gave it a shot of glazing the gold part with green instead of using a wash and it really helped to tone down the shine
of the metalltic paint but not "too much" as washes tend to do..

anyway, here's a picture of the warjack, most of the time went to fixing a hole in the blue paint caused by a bit of dust I didn't see before it was too late

I've been really busy in life lately so I haven't painted much.. I've been boxing alot so my hands shake like I have parkinsons disease every time I try to paint >.<
But I am back now! planning for my next miniature which will be the white speaker..

Here's what I would call a quick doodle, I painted it up very fast and it's more of a test mini for selecting the colours for the skin of the white speaker..
I will paint up another one using magenta for the tint and I hope some of you guys could help me decide.. :)

Here's a pic of the skin (its kind of ruined in the deepest shadows because I was just slopping on paint, will probably glaze it down some time in the future.
I will upload the other one probably tomorrow.. :)
