Armies . . .

I play Griffins & Wolfen.

I have playable forces of Goblin Pirates, Wolfen Howling Pack, Sessian Kelts.

I have a few Lions (cavalry & characters), Mid-Nor Dwarves (crazy looking stunties), Tir Na Bor Dwarves (cool), Undead, Familiars, & Devourers. All good as Allies or just fun to paint.

So far I don\'t have any Orcs or Dirz.

I collect mostly what I like to paint, but once I get past a certain number of miniature it suddenly becomes playable. Once that happens I usually start collecting to make it actually game worthy. Figmetia becomes gamemetia? lol

In my area ther is a pretty even spread of people playing all the various armies. We were lucky we got good supplies of each except Lions and Undead in the beginning. Those two have been slower to take off. I\'d say there is 10-15% high number of Wolfen and Griffin player, but pretty even across the board after that, here at least.

Well I buy them because,

a) They are shiny lumps of metal and I can\'t resist.

b) I can double, triple, quadruple or whatever, my initial investment within a matter of weeks. Should I want to. Instead I will hang on to them and amuse myself in my retirement by flogging them off on eBay.

I am always happy to hear of people who don\'t collect \'cos that\'s more for Darkblade, Chrispy and myself.:bouncy:

Checked your link ...

Darkblade, just been over and checked your list. It sounds pretty comprehensive to me and I can\'t spot any errors or ommissions:bouncy: Thanks for taking the time to create this useful resource.

Personally, the cards leave me cold, I don\'t throw them away obviously, but my main interest is in the actual miniature.

As an aside, I have just had two 20-year savings plans mature. You know the kind of thing, what \'sensible\' people are supposed to take out as an investment and \'protection\' for the future!!! Well to be honest I would have been much better off stuffing pound notes under my mattress:flame: So from now on I spend my spare cash on what I want to, and at this moment in time, that is limited edition minis. I tell you what...It\'s much more funlol

It\'s much more lucrative toolol:bouncy:lol

Indeed he did..

But you don\'t have to search far. This sold on eBay tonight:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3141018678&category=7389&rd=1

82 GBP, that\'s $132. I bought a dozen when they were first released. Try and get that interest from a bank or a building societylollollol

Okay, while we\'re still on LE figs: Doesn anyone know if Starplayer is still giving away the Executioner fig? I don\'t know about Brookhirst either, but that\'s because i\'m too lazy to look. My plan is to buy the Busts from them, thus killing 4 birds with 2 stones... :p

We should have a seperate thread to see what LE minis each of us has, too.

Finn17 nice score.

Chrispy, I have not seen the Torturer anywhere. But Brookhurst stll has Aiona available, last time I checked, 2 days ago.

Trust the birthday boy! Ha ha! That\'s one we both forgot Darkblade. It seems to be my weekend for making statements my brain can\'t back up. Cheers Chrispy!!

Might be an idea to start a thread of minis we are looking for. Otherwise I see it as a bit of a brag chart:flip:

Avoiding painting .... I just emailed Starplayer, I\'ll let you know if they answer.

Just been and checked...

Starplayer still seem to be featuring the \'Torturer\' on their site so I guess it is still available. They reckon to have had 2000 made, so that is quite a big run for a \'limited\' mini.

I emailed them however, before ordering to check that the offer was still available and I would advise anyone else to do the same.

It\'s a cool model by the way and well worth acquiring in it\'s own right, not just as a \'collector\'s item\'.:flip:

Yeah good idea. Might be able to help each other out, finding out about where and how to get LEs. For instance I had no idea about Starplayer until Chrispy\'s post. Added to my running LE list. I\'ll repost it as a new thread, as the start.

Just to get back on track

I started collecting Griffon and although I still like them a lot (really I do), my current interest is now Orcs

But I\'m not planning on collecting just Orcs. I\'m gonna try to collect several other minis too and use them as allies or mercenaries. That way I can buy some other minis I like a lot and paint something else besides Orcs. Some people have a problem with my plans though but powerplay is not my goal, I simply like a warband which contains several races or types of warriors.

I do something similar, I made a choice on choosing a race I like a lot and then collect the allies of that race I like the most. So I play and collect Orcs, I\'m also collecting devourers right now and soon I will be buying a lot of Drunes. :)

I have Wolfen myself. I think a lot of people have them or play them cause the Miniatures really look great and its fun to paint them. The same with the Griffons. They have some great Minis and they are a good army to play (Wolfen are really hard to play).

They might be hard to play Vahilor, but you clearly don\'t have any difficulties painting the wee beasties.
Your Wolfen are awesome.:bouncy:

I like to win every now and then, but having a warband that looks good is what I\'m going for. Besides, winning or not, playing with a nice warband is already fun :)

Tuubje, I\'m planning on doing the same or at least a little bit. I have a couple of orc chacals and I\'m planning on buying the clan box. After that, I\'ll be looking in to the ranks of the devoreur, goblin and maybe even some kelts.
I finally finished another chacal the day before yesterday, I\'m painting again! :)

:D

@Finn: Thanks!!!

Anyway painting is what I most the time do (much more than playing), so for me the look of an army is the most important and thats why I have no Mid Nors for example =).
