I wasn't planning on showing these guys as I thought they looked quite horrid up close. BUT.... I decided to drag out all my photo booth related equipment(a real pain by the way :) ) and snapped a few pics of them. Surprisingly, I think they look almost halfway decent. Now, the faces are not completely done. Still need to do the hair and the teef and open pie holes on a couple. Here they are.

First a group shot. Hai guyz!

And last but not least...Jim John

And since I had my photo gittin' gear out, I took another shot of the Dark Elf.

By all means, tell me what you think.

Thanks gang!

The elf looks great, the face is very well done! And I look forward to seeing those empire models get some nice bright colours too!

Great job armor! That photo tent made a HUGE difference with the Elf! He's gorgeous! On the empire dudes, my one suggestion is to make their pupils just a tad larger and rounder. Instead of having a small circle in the center, you want a larger oval where the top and the bottom of the pupil disappear behind the lids. That's what keeps them from looking like crackheads.

Unless you're going for the crackhead look. :bulgy-eyes: lol!

But very well done! I'm impressed!

Thanks folks! The faces on this group are done and I have started to work on some fabric. I feel like one of my problems is placing the shadows so I tried experimenting with highlighting up from the darkest shade color hoping that might help me. while the transitions look decent enough, everything is still over way too dark. I also think the reason the transitions look better to me is because of the darker colors it's harder to see the gradation between them. Another issue I have is the highlights. It seems like no matter how thin the paint is or how little I have on the brush, it's putting too much color on with each stroke and I end up with a sharp transition.
Anywho.... Crack head Jim John is the furthest along but sorry no pics at the moment.
@Kath, yep my photo set up works really well armor models and seems to as well with minis. It's just a total PITA to drag everything out. And with minis I have to put everything so much closer to the mini itself. Lights, cameram, mini all right at the edge of the table. Not much room left to get my hand in there and move around without burning myself on the lamps. :( I was going for the wide eyed look on a couple. I thought Moe and Joe Bob looked pretty sedated compared to the others. And Jim John.... I was definately going for crazy as soon as I saw that head on the sprue :)

lol! Cool armor. One thing I did was make room on the dresser for the photo tent otherwise i'd never get any pics because I have no room on the table either. If you're burning your hand on the lamps, be careful. I had a lamp start a full blown fire in the house. Not pretty! Another minute or two and we would have had to call the fire department.

Yea, mine is a bit too large for a dresser or my modeling table. Three 2 x 3 sheets of foamboard...... I got 'em that big to make sure I had room for "most" of the models I would need to take pics of. The 2 1/350 scale Trekkie enterprises will be a different story :) Being that they get as hot as they do, I only turn them on right before I take pics. If there is any major rearranging, they get turned off. Same goes for switching minis/models.

Woo, sweet job with the M&Ms I'm too pansy to try that, i'm pretty certain i'd utterly f**k it up... Then get frustrated...and redo it, then get pissed off i'd f**ked it up again, rinse repeat lol

Thanks guys. TBS! You escaped! Welcome back. go on give it a shot. I thought the same thing before I tried it. It's not epic, but it's a place to start. Tomas, You may very well be right. I'll see if I can maybe address that tonight after work.
Cass, much appreciated sir, now put TBS back in his cage!!! The thread jacking is already out of control again! On second thought, let him stay a while. It all puts a bit of a smile on my face what with the random TBS-ness and all.

I might be tempted to try some M&M's... There's not a cage in all these fair lands that can hold me back. Trys gifted me a Camero, now I have more range, true story.

Well the good thing is TBS, when your around, thread jacked threads at least stay on the fisrt page. Easy to spot!
