Ogre Kingdoms Thundertusk

This was a lot of fun to paint but an absolute nightmare to photograph. I'll keep working on the pics. The thundertusk's body was painted with dry pigments (check out my tutorial on Chest of Colors website). I was pleased with the fact I was able to keep the winter theme but still get a variety of color in the fur. And if his eyes look different, that's because they are! They are Blue Sapphire Apatite gems. The ice hunks on the base are genuine Selenite crystals. I thought they had a really cool effect. Between the dry pigments on the fur and adding the gems and crystals, this mini pushed me forward into advancing my techniques and challenging me to develop new ones. That's what really made it a lot of fun.

Fantastic job. I think some voters are not taking the time to see how much detail work you really did on this massive piece. I think your beasts color choice is more fitting then the GW box picture. Love the blue glow you added to the metals near the top.
