Working Girl
The latest in my efforts to beat swords into plowshares....or stopsigns. I don't know if they have these in Europe but they are everywhere in the USA. Well, they don't look like this usually (ever). If they did there would be a lot fewer complaints about traffic jam delays. My most ambitious conversion to date. This was my first use of a dremmel. By far the hardest part was taking away the lower part of the cloak (without taking out her legs), then resculpting the back of her leg and boot. The signs are cut from plasticard and painted freehand. This is also my first fancy base. The base is made from spackle, broken at the back with a piece of plastic tubing (paint brush tip protector) stuck in the side. I've painted gloss finish mixed with brown ink beneath it to look wet but not flowing. I also applied a few coats of gloss on the skirt to suggest it is plastic or vinyl. Perhaps it's a piece of a Hefty bag. The hard hat is made of brown stuff, and brown stuff was put under the arms with folds to suggest it is a vest rather than a cloak. The reflective surfaces of the vest and work sign were made by mixing VA gold with various amounts of bright yellow and blazing orange. I discovered the same color could be more easily gotten with 1 drop VA gold and 2 drops GW Yellow Ink. I have also painted a bit of shadow on the road beneath her which you can just make out on the road stripes between her feet. I hope you enjoy and look forward to any comments.
