Classic Tyranids + Zoat (part 2)
More classic tyranids. The top mini is a long OOP Zoat warrior. They used to be a slave race for Tyranids, but were phased out around 2nd ed. I'm using this as a "counts as" Zoanthrope. The whole creature is a single bio-mechanical psychic weapon. I'm considering buying some Fantasy Zoats, and using them as Tyrant Guards. Any other ideas in using Zoats in 5th ed Tyranid army? Next two rows are Hunter Slayers (gaunts) from the late 80's. I've got total 33 of those, 16 painted. Then we've got Tyranid Warriors with boneswords. I'm using them as leaping scything talon / rending claws warriors. The bottom row is Tyranid Warriors with ranged weapon-symbiotes. Two deathspitters and one 2nd ed Barbed Strangler. I very much liked the 2nd ed "Wargear" book descriptions for Tyranid weapons. With words like "arming orifice" and "firing colon", they really sounded like alien bio-organic weapon symbiotes. I'm not that into bases, but I wanted something different for these beasties. It somehow felt wrong having tyranids standing on grass bases. So I created some simple hive ship / deathworld -themed bases.
