Nobody's commented yet, so I'll try.
First, your paint is really thick. You need to thin the paint down quite a bit more, I think. You'll be amazed how smooth it comes out. That's one of the "secrets" of some of the beter painters around here.
Second, most of your figure looks very flat. There's little highlighting, and what's there doesn't show up very well because of the gloopy paint. The sword, for example, could be really interesting if it looked like the design was raised or indented. You can do this with shadow effects.
