Was Freya the Valkyrie, now C.J. or
This was a blast and it took me a long time. I learned much doing this mini, mainly patience. (still far to go there). First the obvious. This mini suffered from 2 cliches: warior chick in bikini and GIANT sword. I decided to get rid of both. I've inset the pictures from which I drew inspiration. My first attempt to build a surfboard out of putty was a failure. I just dont' have the necessary equipment. I ended up cutting the shape out of a piece of credit card. A smaller piece was used for the fin. Then I tried to use color to make it look curved. I did a better job on the back than on the front. The beach ball is a piece of styrofoam packing material. For sand I followed the "raid the spice rack" school and used ground ginger. The torpedo bouie (lifesaving device) is cut from a square toothpick, smoothed with pva glue and the handles are putty. A piece of dark blue thread is looped around her wrist and then around the bouie to simulate the tether. Cyanoacrylate keeps the loops closed, but it's not glued to either her arm or the bouie. The hand is the first thing I have ever sculpted. It looks clownish I think, but I'm happy enough with it. I also scraped the chainmail off her upper right arm and smoothed the deepes holes with putty. I'm not good enough or brave enough to make new arms or to scrape off the forearm stuff so I tried to make it look like some sort of yellow floaty and ignored the other. For the same reason I didn't remove her boots but left her in white go-go boots with gold trimmings. She was a blast and I hope you enjoy her. Please leave comments.
