Scottish Clansman from Russian Toy Soldier
This miniature was suppose to be for the 2007 MMSI Chicago Show, but I was unable to complete it given everything going on in my life and had to cut it from my line up. I did get it finished in time to enter the Newbold Challenge Classical Competition, before the deadline of November 4th! Although this piece did not win this competition, it will still be a charity piece and the entire proceeds of this auction will be donated to the 2007 Newbold Challenge, which supports the charity, Children in Need. This clansman is dressed in "trewes" in a traditional tartan plaid. Shield is an original freehand design, base is scratchbuilt. This did not come with the sword sheath piece for the back, so I sculpted my own version of a traditional design to replace the missing piece. This was painted to competition quality and sealed with a matt sealer. I'm especially happy with the way the plaid came out, as well as the leathers. That plaid was painted 4 times before it came out correctly! It as an excellent piece and one of the best 54mm I've done. And unlike my other auctions that are to help pay my medical bills, this one, as I said, is completely devoted to charity, thanks to Ian Newbold of the Newbold Challenge.
