Again went further with the skin. As said before, everything is painted in oils and I found out it's very difficult to highlight. The oils keep up blending in eachother.
But I made some progress! Next thing to do, is to let the scar dry and then give it the final highlights. I saw the pictures don't show the highlights very well, but I hope they give you a good picture!

Also went any further with the damaged and nurgled skin:

And made a start with the wound:

Summer gets to an end, so time again for the hobby.
Been further with the Mammoth and still enjoying it very much.

Started with the tower. Tried to give all the wood different shades. Only have to shadow between the different strokes of wood. The metal parts on the tower got their first caoats and want to make them really rusty. The skulls have also only their first coat.

Also made some progress on the skin. Next thing to do is to highlight more. All the scars are also getting attention, but its not finished yet.

Next thing to do is to finish the skin parts on the belly and feet. Then I want to start with the armour. Think I will use Alclad paint to do this job. Next week I will go to the store for some information about this kind of paint.

till the next update.

What questions do you have about Alclad? I use it a bit for my models and im happy to try and anser them. Be warned though the stuffs not cheap and you dont get alot per bottle.

Wanted to know if Tamiya is a good coat for Alclad. Want to paint the armour in bronze. I know Alclad has some beautifull metallic colors.
But can I mix them together to make some shadows and highlights?

That are my most concerned questions about Alclad.

Hope you can give me an answer.

No to be honest. Alchad is a lacquer based paint and best to apply it first. Ive never tried mixing them together and to be honest i dont see why it wouldnt work, it would not hurt to try it on some scrap plasticard first. As for shading and hlighligting your safe to paint over it with almost anything, the stuff is very tough.

If you have any more questions please do ask.

Hi all,

Just got back from the excellent Aibrush Services Almere. Had to make a hard decission... Alclad or Acylics.
inally I choose for Auto Air color. A very nice acrylic. Only problem I had to buy a new needleset (0.4), but kept it save for the paint.
Have no experience with Alclad and the auto air has also some very good metalics.

In a few minutes I will spray some paint on the armour.... photo's will follow this week.

Time for an update again.

Finished the armour of the Mammoth. Airbrused with Auto Air, an excellent paint. Only thing was that I needed to buy a 0.4 needle cause of the metallic paint. An 0.2 was to small because of the pigments used in the paint.
And as I discovered, the 0.4 was really necessary, it had a hard time spraying the paint!

After the basecoat I lighted it up with basecaot and some metallic and darkened it with some black smoke. After that I sponged different tones of brown, orange and some yellow to start the weathering.

I wanted a worn and rusted effect, but also wanted to keep a little redish bronze armour. Since bronze oxide in a black and sometimes green I gave mine armour some "artistic freedom".

I like the way it turned out, hope you do to!

Almost complete the Mammoth now. Next thing is to glue the tusks in place and to finish the chains. I will make them more rusty by using pigment powders.

After that I will place the mammoth on is base and I can start working on that.
Also have to complete the tower and some figures.

Wont be bored in the near future!

cute little furball :D
a tip about the eye is to make a little pure white dot in the pupil, it make it look more wet and alive.

Time to show some progress again.
I attached the Mammoth to it's base.
I consider the Mammoth and the wooden tower as finished.

I only need to do something more at it's base, finish the figures and flags. Maybe I got some figures in the tower, I will see.

Am curieus what you think of it:
