Hi all,

After finishing the Ork Stompa it's time to start a new project. I was in the oppertunity to buy this excellent model and a long wish came out.
The detail is extremely beautifull and sharp and there are only a few parts that has to be glued on. I am now cleaning some parts and hope to start prime the model soon.

Therefore, pictures from the building ain't interesting but I wanted to show them to let you see how beautifull the casting is.

Man, I envy you. I sooo want the opportunity to get that model... it is just soooo expensive to buy direct from the manufacturer.

Good luck with the painting.

Hi all,

Last couple of days I had some time to continue this beautifull model. At first I cleaned it up a little. As said before, the casting is so extremely good, there was only a little cleaning.
Then I airbrushed a coat of Tamiya Gloss black. Why gloss? Because I ran out of mat paint!
For the skin I airbrushed Vallejo air (Rust 71080) over the black.
For the fur I airbrushed Tamiya Red Brown (XF-64) over the black.

Next I will highlight the skin with some flesh colours. After that I will give the fur some other coats of greens and yellow/greens.
When I finshed the basecolours I will start painting all the chains and other iron materials. When that is finished (I guess after a long time), I will complete the skin and fur. I think I will use oils for that paintjob.

But I am not so far yet. First some pictures of the first base colours:

Hi all,

Another small update. I finished the basecolours by airbrushing. Now I already have sprayed a coat of gloss varnish and will let it dry for a day of three.

I have some pictures with the fished base colours. Only at the photo's it's hard to see any differents compared with the first photo's. But believe me, there's a difference!

Here some photo's:

When the coat of gloss varnish is dry. I will start painiting all the chains and other metallic armour.
The glos varnish is necessary to work with the oils.

Hope to give another update soon again.

Made a quick shot to show you the size of the mammoth compared to a Marauder on horse.
A single standing figure can stand under the lifted foot from the mammoth.

Hi there,

A small update agina. What have I done lately? Painted all the metal parts (chains and armour on the feet) in one coat of Boltgun metal. It's far from finished yet, but I also wanted to paint the skin in oils. I expect to spoil a little bit of paint over the metal parts, so that's the reason I don't finish the chains first. Also will I use brown coloured oils, so I can start make them rusty.

I also start with the skin. I worked before with oils, but not on a model of this size. The advantage with oils is the long drying time, so you can keep up blending.
The disadvantage however is also the long drying time. It's dificult to obtain the right fles colours, because the colours keep up blending in eachother.

Enough said, two pictures of the (almost) finished skin of the right front leg:

The skin looks good, but I think washing a darker color into all of the cracks and crevices would make the skintone and highlights more vibrant.

look superb so far. btw what is this? some sort of spiny penis/random sphincter?!!

RIMG1003.jpg

Hahahahah, never looked at it that way but looking at the photo I can imagine you pictured that.
No, it's the end of the trunk. It still is chaos, so a liitle bit Nurgle and demonic is part of the deal!!!
