Winner of the Chicago \'04 Open, by Doug Jones. An awesome mini.

Is he a very heavily converted mini, a scratchbuilt, slightly converted or out of the box? If anyone knows what he is called or finds him on the UK online store, that would be very helpful. Me need buy!

Thanks :D

from the amour look and pose I\'d say it\'s a warhammer imperial footman with a pole that\'s been converted. They only come in boxes of 20 but if you want one to do the same thing drop me a PM I have tons of them lying around in a box.

this but with a pike :

Thanks guys! Arthur - thanks for the offer, but I have just found him:

Says he is called Lord Solar Macharius, a 40K mini, and I\'m guessing Doug Jones\' isn\'t converted... a search for solar or macharius on GW online (US and UK) revealed nothing, however. I will PM chocapic.

Thanks again

Cool, Wonder if they used a empire guy as a base for the mini as some details are really similar. Anyway, would make for a good empire general if you take out all the 40k stuff.

Original figure was painted by Matt Parkes as part of a small Imperial Guard diorama. It was featured in WD.

Its currently on display in Nottingham Castle as part of the Art of Warhammer display.

Yep he\'s lord solar macharius minus his cloak.
I believe he is in the new imperial guard collectors guide when it is released.

Nope his cloak is there, look to the bottom right hand side of the figure. The hem of the cloak is showing.

This figure was released about 6 years ago, I still have mine and there are some things you should know before considering buying him:-

1 The Cloak to body fit is poor, requiring a fair amount of greenstuff.
2 The Arms are separate and do require to be pinned.
3 The detail on the chest (on mine at least) is marred by a moulding line.
4 Access to the face is really difficult and painting it can be a nightmare.

If you really do want him, check in your local GW store and dig out the Imperial Guard Mail Order catalogue. I\'m pretty sure he\'s still available from there.

Thanks very much for your help everyone :) I will have a look in GW (might be going in that direction today anyway to buy shoes for my sister), eBay might be cheaper. I\'ll dig about some more. DR: thanks for the warning, he sounds like a challenge :wow: I\'ll give him my best shot!

Cheers

Go on Bill, you can do it! lol

It\'s a nice mini in all fairness. I was thinking of going head-to-head in a bidding war :D Not really - it would be a pointless escapade...what with my non-painting policy.

Really Roman isn\'t it? Hugely so. With all of GW\'s silly control freakery of their copyrights, it\'d be funny if the Italian government sued GW for ripping off their history lol

Ah, ye olde Lord Solar. Who wept when his men would go no further beyond the galactic rim. Alexander anyone?

I remember when the diorama version was originally in White Dwarf with a little disclaimer \"Mordian Iron guard and sceneic base not included\" lol

Well, I have returned from GW. I was looking through the IG Collector\'s Guide, when an employee interrupted me to ask what I was looking for.
Lord Solar Macharius, says I.
Nay, says he. Lord Solar Macharius does not exist as a model, says he.
Okay, says I. Bollocks, he knows nothing, thinks I.

So. I don\'t know if he\'s in the Collector\'s Guide or not, but I doubt it. Ebay is the answer, but you have to be 18+ to have an account, and my parents haven\'t used theirs for ages. Got the password, but cannot retrieve the user ID. Hooray.
