Ballads

I have an extremely eclectic taste in music. I\'ve been listening to John Coltrane\'s \'Ballads\' album non-stop since last Saturday and still can\'t get enough of it. One of the most beautiful albums I\'ve ever heard!

I mostly listen to punkrock bands like The LawrenceArms, DillingerFour, Snuff, ScreechingWeasel, AntiFlag or similar stuff while painting, sculpting, mapping or whatever I do.

I just about only have two albums on repeat at the moment.

Dave Grohls probot, who ever knew that man had so much metal in him.

And King Diamond/Merciful Fate a dangerous meeting.

Cause you know, old school metal pwns little emocore rock stuff
:flame:

And if Im painting I normally listen to something with a lot of double kick in it, seems to make me work faster, so, something like slayer, old metallica, bit of iron maiden, or some death metal or something.

I\'ve been painting to a rotation of:
Protest the Hero, Alexisonfire, Bayside, and now I\'ve thrown in some Rise Against (might be seeing them live this summer :D). After that I\'ll probably throw in some Silverstein and Senses Fail. And maybe a little Finger Eleven (new cd is fantastic).

@electrolito: Hope everything works out for you... I\'m off to check out that band on purevolume. Check out Bayside sometime if you havent already they have some really good coping with tragedy songs.

Am I the only person here who truly likes Bluegrass and Americana music?
Just something about the mountain music that seems inspired to me.
Im currently listening to Alison Krauss or Nickel Creek

Now dont get me wrong. I still love me some Rock and even some punk. But there\'s just something about Bluegrass and americana music that I truly enjoy.

Even better they can make fun of themselves
Any Motorhead fans out there need to see this Video

Love AC/DC? Then you need to check out Hayseed Dixie

I wonder if I\'m the only one that listens to Psychopathic. You know, Insane Clown Posse, Dark Lotus, Twiztid, Boondox, Axe Murder Boyz...

I don\'t always listen to music when I paint, sometimes I got a DVD playin\' on my laptop. And sometimes I have silence...

I usually just put Pandora.com on.

I have it set on a mix right now of old school punk (Black Flag), Industrial (Die Krupps), Thrash (Megadeth), and Synthpop (VNV Nation).

I\'m not a huge eminem fan, but I\'m just glad to hear someone else paints to rap. I usually have on a mix that includes Wu Tang, 2pac, Tribe, Mos Def, Biggy, Tricky and a number of others.

Either that or when I\'m feeling more relaxed something more along the lines of a portishead, massive attack type mix.

Pandora.com is great, I have that on all the time at work though, lots of stations there

I\'m usually listening to one of the spacier or drone-y stations on www.somafm.com. The indie station on there isn\'t so bad either, but the dance music is just awful.

Not music. I usually have the tv on in the background and look up for the action scenes.

If I had to listen to music it would be wierd christmas stuff and my family won\'t let me in the \"off-season\". (xmas in my birthday and I\'m a bit of a freak for it but only like the odd music. no Bing Crosby for me) That\'s why it\'s TV.

Hayseed Dixie rocks! Their first album is in my stereo now, 2 or 3 disks on down. The second is in my car stereo. Alison Kraus is fantastic too. She\'s a little soft for my taste, but her voice is just gorgeous, so when she does pick the tempo up, just a bit, I\'m diggin it. I like to follow one of her albums with Motorhead, kind of a musical shock therapy.

Have you ever heard \"Pickin on Clapton\"? It\'s mostly instrumental, but they do a version of White Room with vocals that\'s pretty fricking cool.

megadeath is not thrash. they are more heavy metal... some one else back me up here. all your other references are right fine though.

OK, I Haven\'t posted in probably a year but.. this just shocked me lol

Megadeth ( no A in there) are one of the four thrash giants with Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth. Rust in Peace is a thrash metal masterpiece ! Sadly they changed to a bit more mainstream metal.

Anyhoo..

ok i can put anthrax easily into the thrash category but not megadeath. they may have started a bit more thrash but quickly went the route of mainstream heavy metal. symphony of destruction is a great song and a great heavy metal song... mustaines melodies are too melodic to have that buzz feeling you always get. but then again i always thought slayer was emo. hehehe. if you watched how to be emo on youtube you will laugh to that. anyhoo. i always enjoy a good music dialogue. ritual help us out here whats your take on the whole megadeath thrash or heavy metal?:D

Megadeth = influential thrash

But

Musical genres = about as important as mini ratings here, and about as debatable too!

Hehe.. you should see the more experimental fringe of the electronic music scene... It\'s almost like every artist makes up a new genre name for him/herself. lol I suspect it\'s the same in other types of music too.
