Wednesdays Suck!

Heh...

I once saw a bloke carried out of a pub by his \'pals\', placed upon his motorbike (which had to be kickstarted by someone else) and cheered as he wobbled off down the road. Needless to say, he didn\'t even make the first corner at which point his \'pals\' evaporated.

I think it\'s just your imagination, Klute. ;)

And damn right it was irresponsible of me! I\'m not making any excuses for it...but it\'s not like I was all $hitfaced drunk. And yes, I was legally drunk. Legally drunk in Florida is .08 BAL which, for some people, is only two drinks! Being a good size fella, it\'s like 6 or 7 for me, which is about what I\'d had over the course of 5 or 6 hours (and I was drinking with an Irish wedding party for some of that :p ).

And I won\'t go into \"might have beens\" regarding the wreck because, honestly, what\'s the point? Everyone can unwad their panties now. If you\'ll notice, I didn\'t exactly brag about getting out of this a free man and in one piece...I was thankful. I\'m not trying to rationalize anything... On the other hand, in suburban America you either take a cab or drive. And cabs are quite expensive. Does this make driving after drinking a viable option? Nope...but thousands of people do it locally every day. It\'s a massive failure of judgement on the part of large portions of the community.

I can also say this has been a lesson learned. The whole experience, especially failing the nystagmus test, really scared the living shit out of me, to be honest. I don\'t think I\'ll be drinking at all for a long while. It doesn\'t enhance anything of mine to an unprecedented level, and it\'s damned expensive. I don\'t need any more law run-ins, nor do I need any more wrecks, or scares, or problems whatsoever.

*wipes sweat from brow* Hell yes, I was lucky, and I\'ll say it again - a lesson learned. :]

As a Yank I\'ll say I am completely ashamed of how lax the US legal system is on drinking and driving. To me there is no difference between driving drunk and closing your eyes and firing a gun at random.....same result. Someone arbitrarily gets hurt or killed. Yet to watch our \'justice\' system, you would think the drunk driver was little more than a litter bug. Dear friends of our family, husband and wife were killed by a drunk driver and my own mom was almost cut in half by a drunk driver.:flame:

I still want to know how you knew the cop was a lesbian. Did she have it stamped on her forehead or something?

How this for an example for the young \'uns?

My teacher said he came out of the pub one night drunk as a skunk and started to cross the road. A criminal had just stolen a car and was heading straight for him at 80 mph. As he was drunk he tought
\"I know I\'ll jump onto the bonnet\"

Well he jumped a milisecond too late.
Crack! One fractured leg.
But the doctor told him that if he hadnt jumped up he would have been killed as there was no chance he could reach the pavement in time!

So drinking is bad and could get you killed but it could also stop you gettng killed (of course if he hadnt gone the pub he wouldnt have had to cross the road)

Im pleased you have learned from it.
I honestly dont know why the law doesn\'t say \"not one bit of alchohol in the system\"
It would be much easier.

\"you either take a cab or drive\"
try walking.:)

The pub I frequent is about 5 or 6 miles from my house. If it was a mile or two, you can bet I\'d be walking. And the law isn\'t about how much alcohol you can drink before driving, it\'s about \"level of impairment\", which is determined by Blood Alcohol Level (BAL). It\'s not a bad system but, as with any law, it\'s not going to fit every circumstance.

It\'s time to put this thread to bed, anyway.

Good. :)
We all need a \"wake up\" to something in our lives now and again. I\'m glad you were able to walk away from it with only a \"Bruised car\".

Methinks it is time to close this. ;):D

before you close this....i just want to defend \"Wednesdays\"

Not all Wednesdays suck, this particular one may have, but I like Wednesdays.

Hump day. Half the week done. Wednesday Addams.

Please do not besmirch one of my favorite days.

I apologize, on behalf of all white people everywhere, for making a gross generalization about Wednesdays. Wednesdays do not, in fact, suck and technically the incident happened on Thursday, since the crash occurred at 2:06am according to the police report. :D

Wednesdays have formerly been my sushi night, which is a great night indeed. Here\'s to all the GOOD Wednesdays and Thursdays out there! :]

Personally I think Tuesdays suck. That\'s my least favourite day of the week. Hard to explain why, but Tuesdays always seem dull...
