i know you spent all that time shaving off the spikes on him but imagine making the spikes form around the metal.. almost as if the metal is fusing to the body and the spikes are now part of the metal.. just an idea.

The new axe I think fits it better. Also I notice the Ork symbol on the axe... the eyes are round, maybe you should try and make them look mean or something so it looks more like an Ork Boss axe you know? Still, I love this idea.. go on with it...
lol

Also you should try a GW 60mm base instead of the PP one... so it looks like an actual mini for a GW Ork 40k Army. :drunk:

Don\'t worry, I haven\'t forgotten about this! My normal laptop is fried and it\'s taken me a bit to get a usable replacement. Some awful pictures coming up, as I don\'t have photoshop to even out the levels and such. These have also been scaled down and saved in paint, so they don\'t look all that magnificent.

Anyway, here.

I think this new chain axe is a lot less feral than the old one - might make the boss look a bit more at home in a 40k setting. It\'s basically just a scaled-up version of the standard warboss one - I\'ll be adding appropriate vents and worky bits to the back once I figure out how to do the intended vents without a problem. I\'m also going to cap the bottom of the handle off. I\'ll probably wrap it, too.

I\'ve also been sculpting a little bit on the boss\'s back - mostly just smoothing out what\'s already there. Nothing too fancy yet - I have to do the entire spine out. I tried that tamiya smooth epoxy stuff, it\'s pretty awful. Greenstuff\'s the ticket.

Cool is that an electrical splice for the axe handle? Neat looking weapon. Did you ever update the Gargant. I NEED to see that thing painted.

It is electrical splice, yes. At least, I think it is - it\'s just some random tubey stuff I found in my garage that happened to fit, really. :D

Also, the gargant won\'t be getting any more updates for now for one particular reason - my airbrush is M.I.A.. By MIA, of course, I mean that my girlfriend has hijacked both my airbrush and my compressor for some project involving painting and powder-coating something. Not going to touch the gargant till I get that thing back.

Cool! Looking forward to that. You could honestly tell your GF that people all over the world want her to hurry up. :D

I sculpted the foundation of one of the Warboss\'s boots today, it actually wasn\'t as bad as I thought.

Going to layer additional armor over it like so:

bigboss24.jpg

I had to cut the feet down a bit to get them to be proper ork-foot-sized. If you look at the other foot you\'ll get an idea of what I mean.

A bit further with the boot. It may not seem like much for most people, but this is probably the most I\'ve sculpted anything aside from maybe flames and small details, and I\'m reasonably happy with how it\'s coming out so far.

Gotta trim the excess down off the heel once that piece is solid. The waiting is the hardest part!

I\'ve been using the spare GS to work a bit more on smoothing out the back, for what it\'s worth.

I\'ll probably make the pant legs on this side before starting work on the other leg.

it\'s looking very good and i can\'t wait till its done.

the only thing that bothers me a little is that the boot reaches over the knee.

And also i have a question : will you keep the big mohawk ??

I feel like a few more pictures.

The top of the boot was cut down just a little bit so it didn\'t go all the way up to his knee, as I felt it might\'ve been a bit too big. It looks a bit.. cartoony, I guess, but I don\'t really think it\'s bad - pants will probably help. You can get a look at a few more of the spots on the back I\'ve touched up, though a majority of it is in the upper back and shoulders.

Sorry if they\'re a bit blurry, low light conditions and all.

Gonna have to sculpt some shin armor on, and straps. I\'m not in the mood to do it, so I\'m using photos to put it off for now. :D I need to get back into my fearless sculpting mood where I just go at it.

I would think maybe strap the weapons on his wrists (like the grey knights stormbolter)and a wolverine style claw glove.
With his hands open like that it may look weird as hes not gripping them.
But you make some of the best scratch weapons i\'ve seen.

your projects are some of the most followed ones on CMON. This looks like it should turn out fantastic.

btw, thanks for your update on the gargant...we were all shaking over anticipation for that one, and we\'re all glad that you havent given up on it. like someone said earlier, you\'ve got a following all over the world, mate!

I mentioned earlier that I plan on closing the hands around the weapons once I finalize what\'s going where.

I appreciate the kind words. Part of the reason I keep blogs like this is to keep me encouraged on a particular project. The other part is for constructive feedback :D

It probably would have been smarter to put this in the WIP section of the forum, though.

As a suggestion now that I see what is taking shape here, you shoud consider doing an ork head since even by giving him ears and a nose would not look completely right IMHO. If anything I would re-sculp the head from the top of the mouth up... just a really serious idea. I try to get the bad out first so sorry if I came at you all wrong. The rest of the body is looking great. The boot looks awesome even with the cartoony round look, gives it an oldskool ork feel which is what makes old orks still my favorite sculpts. Keep it going man!

i gotta agree with electrolito on this one. if not resculpting the entire head i could see rewroking atleast the top of the head to make it a bit larger and work on possibly giving him a long mane of hair. good job though i really want to see this come to a finish. oh and possibly boot cloth going over the top of the opening of the boot... try it, i think it could improve the sculpts look dramatically. i feel the boot melds with the leg and that is detracting from it.

honestly keep up the great work it is awesome i look forward to checking this thread every day. :)
