Does anyone know when the US Golden Demon coverage will be in White Dwarf. It is really late this year.

I don\'t know.. now that you mention it it is really late this year. Maybe they aren\'t doing coverage anymore?

GD coverage will only be online from now on unless they do some sort of special issue..

Yet another dumb call by someone who thinks he knows best..

I do not know if the white dwarf is really worth the price any more. They had this same problem 5-6 years ago. Started covering every game they offered and had more advertisements than actual information

I wish they just showed cool mini\'s every month. :wow:

yeah. sadly there are more gamers than painters (or the gamers spend more money anyway). i did bother renewing my sub a few yrs back. every now and a again i will buy it though. it\'s a shame they don\'t do a yearly gg around the world book to have a good look at the nice shiny\'s from all the other demons

I\'ll agree to that. However, GW did publish such books in the past, but have stopped since some time. Not enough people interested?

An odd fact : in the french WD, they continue to publish the winning and finalist minis in France and of other countries. In last month\'s there were the winners of the Open category of GD UK.

Hey, the gamers aren\'t that thrilled with WD either. There\'s still some awesome models, and I like the articles where every \'eavy metal painter does the same fig up to their own standards and simlar style articles.

Even the game articles are weeeeeeeak nowadays. It all slid into the muck about 2-3 yrs (whenever Battle for Macragge came out) and a significant portion of the issue was dedicated to battle reports of 1 guardsmen vs. a bunch of random spore mines.

It used to inspire me game wise for the entire month until the next one came out. Now I flip through it after a lunchour or two I put it in the pile. Sigh...

same here in germany

they are still covering the golden demon (or at lleast they did so last year ). it´s the only issue i buy once a year for exactly the reasonyou mentioned. It´s nice to hae a real magazine and well made photos

BUT besides this the White Dwarf is getting whorse.
bought the issue with the free termi and space orc just for the minis , the magazine itself has become a ridicolous bundle of advertising and bloated self-praises. the worst \"great new idea\" are the \"standardbearer\" articles where a GW employee rants aobut how brilliant GW is..after reading it i new what shameless self-promotion really means.:drunk:

the whorst happende last year: team gemrnay had written a couple of articles about showcase miniature painting that are really great (everything from color theory to NMM ) .according to Team Germany, GW´s attitude towards these articles can be summarized as \"the articles where good , but we´re not doing it again \" - maybe they didn´t like the fact that something not wriotten by a gw employee was so much better then theyre own ones.

And about theyre attitude towards painter in general : in the same year , Team germany had their own stand at Games Day Germany (wasn´t there myself unfortunately) , with painting courses and showcases. GW did´t supporrted them at all, they couldn´t care less about it

sorry for the rant ,but it bugs me how GW treats fans who try to promote the hobby FOR FREE

Sometimes I wonder just how many people who work for GW are actually interested in hobby. I see little evidence of such interest.
You know... you can make cars without actually liking it, same goes for minis

I thought the last 6 months were an upward swing for WD, really. The Tale of 4 Gamers articles are always a blast to read, especially when there\'s studio painters involved :)

The painting articles have been much more in-depth, as well, which is a bonus. For years we all used to laugh at the oversimplified paint instructions, but that seems to be a thing of the past.

The Ork-filled Januwaaaghry issue is the first in a while that failed to capture my interest. We\'ve all seen the new Ork stuff for months now, so it\'s nothing terribly exciting. Overall I think it\'s getting better. There seems to be a mentality change with WD, and I\'m hoping it turns out to be a renaissance of sorts. It\'s nice to see things that aren\'t just 125 pages of New Release ads.

What about when they let Platoon Britannica organize a get together at Warhammer World and people were able to bring non-GW minis?

hey i´m not saying theyre not able to learn - actually gw said some time ago that they are not satisfied with the way the white dwarf has developed over the last year (read: Sales ) . But still, i didn´t see much of a chance.

@ Scott: i know what you mean. A friend´s friend moved to another town and we inherited his whole gw collection and i got the german white dwarf from number 3 (veeery early nineties / second edition warhammer 40k times ) till now when i compare this older issues with the newer issues , i cna´t help but think that i nice magzine turned bad

BTW: Now that Gw´s painting tutorials are gettign better , and we´re probably seen a new gw painting book soon , what do you think are the odds for GW producing they´re own paintung dvd ? after all, we´ve seen seen several dvd´s published in the last time, and oi don´t think GW will miss an opportunity to make money

Gw really shot themselves in the foot with white dwarf..

If i was running the section looking after wd there would be a few people looking for jobs..

It is dissapointing, but I don\'t know if it\'s the people in charge of the magazine or the people in charge of the company making the state of the mag as it is. I just wish they could dial it back to the way the magazine was about ten years ago or so.

My Fav article ever was a battle for Armaggedon report that had a big table with a city fight and about 4 other sattelite tables around it. Each table\'s battle effected the main fight in some way. It had cool models, cool rules, and inspring scenery. A ten out of ten article for sure! When ever we get more than a couple GW fans together around here that battle report ALWAYS gets brought up.

I would love to see them get back into that swing. Maybe we should start a thread of things we\'d like to see in the mag again?

I\'d like to see actual battle reports between actual player armies. Way back in the day they had two guys (Jeremy Vetock and Alessio Cavatore? maybe?) play a battle using there tourny armies. It was great, and clearly a battle of two opponents taking the game as it came and not re-playing in until the desired result was achieved. More of that would be great for the gamer, And I\'d like to see more of the EM team doing there thing, though as been said they\'re working 6-12 months down the road and the models being painted are stupendous currently. SO good job there!

GD coverage was the only reason I bought WD. Looks like GW has found one more reason, on top of a very long list of things, that I will not give them large amounts of my money. $60 a year that they will no longer get :D

i have a sub to wd, and i may renew it now, mainly becauseits just something nice as a surprise when it comes through the door. i reckon the worst part of the mag is the new amry release desingers not. \" last time it was utter crap due to these selective statistics weve picked out, and this time its better cos its got this stuff in, but we wont mention all the mistakes and crippling flaws until were trying to sell this army to you yet again in a few years time.\"

in fairness, i think its fair enough gw are trying to shamelssly make cash, they are an international company, and in a few years time when people will be struggling to heat their homes minis wont even cross the minds of most people. if i was gw id be working on a \"sell what you can, while you can\" policy with the current state of affairs.
