Updating my Space Crusade Mini\'s - Started my dreadnought, opinions needed :)

After 20yrs of being unplayed in the loft, I have decided to rejuvinate my Space Crusade board game. I am going to get new models for the orcs etc and do some conversions to newer Space Marines, so that they can use the original weapons from the boxed set (Just so they still tie in with equipment cards etc). As you\'ll be able to see on the pics, I will need to use a bit of green stuff on a couple of the weapons (rocket launcher and assault cannon) as I can\'t get the new arms to reach at the correct angles.

I love the pose on this one, looking right down the barrel.

The bolter has had a 2nd edition dagger blade added as a bayonet, as these are used in the equipment cards. He is also looking down at his scanner, as every time you enter a new piece of the board, it must be \"scanned\"

Shame I\'m a bit crap at painting, but I\'ll keep this updated and hopefuly you guys will give me some useful hints!

Cool idea, you should have taken a bunch of before pictures, then take a bunch of after pictrues. Once done you could have put them on Crappy Mini or Not.

I wish I had a copy of Space Crusade, I was never able to find it here in Canada well at least in the London and South area.

where did all that text come from ??? when i looked at it, it jus said updating my space crusade and then it was blank ??? maybe just my internet being slow

No your internet isn\'t slow, just my head! I sent a blank post by mistake, then realised how it works, and went back and edited it. sorry for any confusion!

To post images you can click on the icon it\'s an arrow to the right pointing to a square with a mountain and sun, 4th from the left after the font.

Or just use BBC code which looks like this:

[img ]put URL of image here[/img ]
Without the spaces after the g.

Edit: with example:

Now removing the spaces after the g\'s

Thanks for the help Gilvan, they should all be working now.

I know a website where you will be able to download all the pieces for your own space crusade set. All the boards, doors counters, equipment cards even rule books and mission books in pdf format, but am I allowed to on here. It really is the mutts nuts, I got the extra board sections and cards etc for the \"Eldar Attack\" add on. They cost £50 on ebay!

No problem, glad I could help.

I\'m guessing someone still has the licence rights to this game, and if so then no, you probably shouldn\'t post that here. I\'ll keep checking eBay and other auction sites now and then to see if I can get a copy. It doesn\'t sell nearly as well as the Heroquest expansions I am looking for.

Damn! I didn\'t realise it was that popular. I ought to have taken better care of mine. I got the whole lot, Space Crusade, the eladar and dreadnought factory add ons, for a fiver from Makro when the sold them all off years and years ago. I\'ll have to have a trawl in my parents loft to see how much of it I can find.

That\'s a nice idea I may have to give it a go myself.

I technically have the dreadnought add on, but kinda melted the dreadnoughts trying to take paint off with paint stripper. My 7yr old brain didn\'t comprehend it would melt the damn plastic,lol

tips for painting space marines

I need tips/colour schemes for blood angels/imperial fists and ultra marines.

I was thinking of undercoating all of them black, as I have red and yellow foundation paints which go over black. I just need help with what other colours and techniques to use, any advice?

I suggest having a look through the event/equipment cards from the game and trying to match your colours to the artwork.

yeah I\'m re-doing that plasma gun in brushed silver and gold, like it has on the weapons charts, rather than the ultramarines old red/yellow weapons.

What I was looking for was a \"how to\" with paint colours etc that you\'d use. On the equipment cards they are just all red/yellow/blue. I\'m going to do the ultramarines with gold shoulder pads, and probs just do the other two all red/yellow with highlighting. or should I do black trim on blood angels and red trim on imperial fists?

I was thinking of using these colours:

Ultramarines;
UC=black
BC=ultramarines blue,Burnished Gold,Boltgun metal
HL=Ultramarines blue+skull white,mithril silver with brown wash over it(on the gold),codex grey on black bits

Blood angels;
UC=Black,
BC=Mechrite Red, then a few thin coats of blod red,blazing orange(chest eagle), boltgun metal on gun
HL=blazing orange then flaming orange on armour, sunburst yellow on eagle, mithril silver on gun, codex grey on blakc bits

Imperial fists;
UC=Black
BC=Iyanden dark sun foundation yellow, mechrite red trim, boltgun metal gun
wash=sepia on yellow armour
hl=sunburst yellow&IDS yellow, then a few thin sunburst yellow with final bad moon yellow on edges, blood red on trim, mithril silver on gun

I\'m sure there\'s probably easier ways to paint these chapters though, I don\'t want to use golden yellow too much though, as I think it looks to orangey. Any help on this would be appreciated

Looks good. I\'d consider adding a bit of golden yellow to the Iyanden darksun though as I find it\'s too pale on it\'s own but see what it looks like without it first.

Ok, so I\'ve got a couple of thin mechrite red base coats on to get a flat colour and am ready to start with the blood red. I drybrushed the gun with boltgun metal, then highlighted the raised areas with mithril, after that a couple of washes with badab black, does the metal look ok, or is it missing something (other than nmm,lol)

Wow I really should get my finger out!

God I didn\'t realise how long it was since I updated this thing! Well true to form not a lot of painting has been going on, I have been collecting new models to replace the old and doing some converting here and there, my new commanders and the new grot with his stolen whip are amongst mt faves, pics will be updated tongiht when I figure out how to take half decent photo\'s with my camera.

For now I have a quick question, does this axe head look ok or crap? I\'m not talking abut the painting as its one of my mates old paint jobs, but does the ultramarines symbol unbalance it?
