Great thread! LOL

I'll also pic on GW and choose these as my nomination...

I can't believe how bad these are. It's almost understandable for a small company to put out some 'bad' minis...but for a company the size of GW? Wow.

Sorry Jim going to disagree with you here.
A small company can't really afford to put out poor mini's especially in the current market economy.
In fact it is more in their favour to put out high quality "Eye Candy".

BUT.......

I have to agree with you over GW's "Blubber Bulls", they are P*ss Poor.
A close second, I think, is the Wood Elf lord on a Stag.

My point was not that small companies put out poor minis (quite the opposite, really!!) Just that if one did (and there are a few that I thought were 'bad') it's more understandable because they may not have the resources to have decent design, clean sculpts, etc. If a small company puts out an ugly mini, I may give them a pass. When a company the size of GW does it (and they are now 4 for 4 on this list) I find it inexcusable! Especially coupled with the amount of lettuce they charge!

There are numerous bits of GW I think are crumby, the examples above are a nice representation. That Squirrel-Wolf has at least done numerous small companies a favour though as they all rushed to release Wolf mounts suitable for 40K ;) I'll throw in a vote for the Minoballs though. A GW staffer whispered to me that they were due out soon & I made the mistake of looking forward to them. Made for a far bigger disapointment than If I'd just happened across them in WD.

I can't stand the giant Space Marine rip-offs that various studios churn out. Pressmoulded parts from various kits, cookie cutter detailing, laughable proportions & lazily finished. Scibor is the name that springs to mind but by no means is (was) he the only offender. This one... http://coolminiornot.com/252247 is currently on 8.8 in the Gallery. There's bare wire sticking out of the potted plant on his back, numerous lazy pieces like the heart on the breastplate but the hands, dear Lord, the hands. A pathetic joke at the expense of the GW fanboy who badgers their parents into getting them this for their Birthday.

I'll finish with this piece... http://www.coolminiornot.com/221425 ...which I think is horrific. Please do note that I am not taking the piss here! I genuinely voted this piece a 10. I cannot imagine a more shocking & sickening example of a Demonic Princess ever being submitted to the Gallery. Everything about it captures exactly the feelings of revulsion that a demon should induce. Those manky nipples, the feet rotting into the ground, the blackened eyes. Just fantastic. I can only say that I am hugely relieved that her right leg is raised so that we can't see between her legs, I suspect that may be a little to vomitous for any of us! A lot of people seem to be frustrated by the efforts of this CMONer but I think this particular entry shows a special kind of genius, of which I'm just a little jealous :) I've no idea whether it's a production mini or scratchbuilt but it's definately UGLY!

The others springing to mind are all over 5 years old, so I'll leave it at that :)

Cheers, B.

The Mino's sure deserve a a swift deletion from the range. The muscles are so badly done, and can't get on board with 'em not having animalistic legs.

Last mini to have got me sneering is the new GW Demon Prince. Loads of bits for variety in each one, but the sculpting seems a step towards a Saturday morning cartoon style. The folds of the cloth are not natural, and the curves of other parts jut in such a way as to evoke this bloke turning up week after week after being foiled by a group of mutant kids in power armour.

Normally I'd discourage people ragging on Scibor or any other specific poster here, after all that could get nasty and personal which is generally bad idea here. But holy smokes, there ARE bare wires sticking out of that one. And the hands are like... wool mitts or something. Very ugly AND shoddy in my opinion. But there is a cadre of people who enjoy this style, as overwrought as it seems to me. I never liked Fiannas either so that shows what I know about people's tastes.

Fair point but I suppose I don't consider them to be amateur hobbyists like myself. These are people making a living from their sculptures & advertising them in the Gallery. If some kid posted a WIP thread as they worked on that piece for their army I may comment on not liking the style but would heartily approve of the effort. Start churning them out for cash, I'll treat you like any other producer of slipshod product :)

Anyhow, I should have known better than to comment in a thread that focuses on the negative :( One day I'll remember my self-imposed internet rules ;)

Cheers, B.

Don't like some of the Space Marines that have such an incredible amount of stuff/bling on them that it's almost impossible to make out that there's a guy in all that. Rackham (Sigh.....RIP) had the same problem on occasion.

I can agree with all of the above, plus, I wont link, as there are too many, but the Entire Ogre range from GW.

Funny how the nominations so far are all GW!

When I first saw the minotaurs I actually thought they were the new rat ogres. I do not know which GW employee gave those minis the green light for production but they should be fired and the sculptor that actually created them should be banned from sculpting minis. Same should happen to the illustrator that drew the concept art.

As for Canis Wolfborn, it looks like he is riding a giant cat. He is a space wolf is he not?

When in comes to Canis I'm just saying one thing: Husky. Sure, a real wolf doesn't look cool or mean enough to be a convincing ferocious riding beast but it is sure as hell a lot more convincing than a darn Husky. For that reason my vote goes for Canis, not for the sculpting, which I do find more than decent but for the complete fail of executing the concept

My top two have been covered by the first couple of nominations. The space squirrell and the god awful minoroids, but after seeing that crazy boobed mess I'd have to promote that to the most hideous thing I've ever seen on here

as far as production minis are concerned, i think the minoroids take the cake. i looked around for something wors, and honestly couldnt find anything.
reaper has had a few awkward looking minis but none nearly that bad....
i find most warmachine/hordes minis to be fugly....
some small companies have put out terrible minis....
but nothing as bad as those. they arent even salvgeable.

Actually, I'm going to commit heresy by nominating this:

I know a lot of people here think it's hilarious, so now that I've said it, feel free to insult my mother, etc.
