Triplo Concentrato Stompa Action!

As the title says - I\'m always doing something and why not tell everyone if they wanna see.

The plan is to simultaneously make 3 stompas. I am going to follow similar patterns to the original steam stompa design but obviously they are going to be variants. Here\'s a picture of the materials I have collected so far - I can only hope that this is enough to get me into the project well and truly.

So now here I embark on a new fantastic journey 3 TIMES THE SIZE of the original! I am surely going to go insane!

Anyways - I\'ve gotten into the stompas as promised and I think I\'ve made a mistake. After making three of the steam tanks they\'re actually a bit squat. And what sucks is that it took me all day to make all three. SOOOO that said I\'ll be soldiering on anyways, and making it work...which it should, it means I have more room for other things.

SO! We\'ll see how it works out.

And another thing another thing I am working on with these - I\'m making them so I can disassemble them for transport. SOOO if the shorter tanks don\'t work out I should be able to replace them without too much hassle. Not much of a pic, but it\'s a pic of what I did today nonetheless.

The artwork is from a guy over on CGNetworks, I found it over there ages ago. And sorry for the confusion - I didn\'t mean three times as big as the other - I meant a project three times as big - three stompas instead of 1...

Yes. This diary will be fantastic. The stars have aligned and my skills are at their peakiest peak that they have peaked peakier than they\'ve ever peaked before.

You see - just a few days before I began this project, Jupiter, Venus and the Moon aligned to smile down upon the venture I had just decided on. This sign has inspired me to press on with much added gusto...or something.

Or I was just trying to tie in the fact that I wanna show the cool pic I took of the three astral bodies aligning in this way:

I\'ve made the hip sections much bulkier in these versions that the previous. That was probably the main complaint I had with the last one. So I rectified that, but for the moment they look like giant baby Plankton (spongebob reference) with nappies on. But that won\'t last - I GUARANTEE it...

i would not use foam core for the feet. It will get banged up fairly easy and it will not support the weight of the top half of the stompa

Well he has built one of these already and it seems to work on that one. Pink foam can be surprisingly durable and if it\'s anchored properly the base itself ought to provide a measure of protection.

The foam is very sturdy. The only difficulty is ensuring you don\'t use glue that melts it. And you can reinforce it with wires and the like - easy done.

After making you wait for ... EVER ... by my standards anyway I\'ve got for you all an update. I\'ve mostly done the legs, mostly finished the engine assemblies and got the arms started. Although I am still working out fine little details. Like the other night I had a dream and in that dream I built them with two arms instead of one - and I didn\'t use the cannon idea out of the original concept, the weaponry was more arm, shoulder, under-arm or belly mounted.

And there was more scaffolding.

Perhaps it was a sign of what I should do ... well I\'ll get to more of the arm assembly tomorrow and I\'ll think on it some more. Let me know your ideas on what I\'ve been thinking. I either need to do a second arm OR the cannon assembly - sticking an arm out onto that doesn\'t look very good.

Ok Here is my christmas present to you all - more pictures of the stompas in progress I\'ve done some more work on them. I know they are looking fairly uniform but to be honest it\'s a HELL of a lot more work to make them any more individual than this. WAY lots more work and I don\'t want to spend half the year just building these stompas!

Here’s the last update for the year – I’ve got a heap more detailing started on this stompa project. Most of this was done to the metal stylings of…various bands…so that helped me to get into the correct frame of mind whilst I builded these beasties

Anyways – enough of my blather and here are the updates:

This gun is going to be sitting on one of the stompas, but I haven’t decided exactly where – the thought is perhaps on top with a full 360 view but that looks kinda weird, or over and arm or on a forward mounted platform slightly lower but in front of the beast:

I’m not entirely sold on the energy weapon gun arm on this one but *meh* I couldn’t be bothered redesigning it so it’ll do:

Ideas
Have the \'special\' arm throwing something or someone (marine )

heavy machine guns mounted inside the fingers of the arm that\'s shooting the flamer. IE old school anime/monster show.

photoshop the three of them over the Abby Road cover. For some reason one of your pics reminded be of that cover with your first stompa John Lenin, he\'s the one that is to have died and replaced with a duplicate and whatnot. Yes, my mind works in some funny funny ways

looking at your stompas, i got some ideas, maybe you like them


add a speaker for a Yellboy!...you know that orks from the old epic stompas/ orc titans that used giant speakers to yell at the boys to motivate them. i think a giant orcish subwoofer on the shoulder and a platform with a mikro and the yellboy would look great, plus this way you got a \"command stompa\"

grot missile launcher or a giant zapper gun

a giant jetpack on the back

the hands look great. why don´t you build a hacked of arm from a imperial titan for one of the stompas to carry around as a little \" souvenir \". or a demolished rhino

This is great man, you have alot of talent, where do you get all of your materials from?

Most of the materials are just bits and bobs of junk. Some of the stuff is bits out of a VCR player, toys from a cheapo shop, cardboard, plasticard, plastic tube and rod of various different types, brass and aluminium rod...and round sprue from historical modelling kits.

Here\'s this weeks update. Plenty more done and plenty more detailing - I still haven\'t gotten to the point of being ready to rivet the buggers yet... I\'m almost ready to start stuffing around with pilots and crew, the plan at this stage is to have a main pilot with a pilot running each arm. And then various hangers on - and with the new grot boxes coming I may just throw some of them onto the beasties as well

Well I\'ve managed to get past the point I usually get to where I feel like chucking the buggers at the wall. That was somewhere before the platforms were finished and the guns were pretty much done. Now it\'s all downhill where I just fill in the details because it\'s mostly dealt with. All that are left to add weapon wise are the big shootas and the supa-rokkits. Everything else is pretty much fitted out.

And I can\'t find a copy of the new apocalypse book anyway to get a squiz at - trying to find the stats on the Klawstompa and the Stompa mob - but it\'s not available and it\'s ticking me off...I thought it was in reloaded but I dont\' know for sure and there are none available to me before this weekend so when the boyz come over for a game I can properly stomp em with the 7000pts of WAAARGH!nificence!
