Top Five - Which survivors should be next...?

Okay, so I know this is a fairly common topic on the Kickstarter newsfeed, but I wanted to share and hear from you guys as to who you think should be the next optional or free survivors the GG should release. Ever since Tallahassee was released I figured I needed to back some new survivor. So I'll share my top five picks, and you can do the same (in no particular order):

1. Scott Pilgrim (Scott Pilgram vs. The World)
2. Ed (Shaun of the Dead)
3. Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid)*
4. Glenn Rhee (The Walking Dead)**
5. "Dutch" (Predator)

My reasons are as follows:

1. Scott - Because he's a survivor through and through. Plus swords!
2. Ed - Because what's Shaun with his good buddy?
3. Snake - Because surviving a zombie apocalypse is about stealth, combat skills, and being able to eat anything he finds... he can do all that and then some.
4. Glenn - Well we all know "Phil" is Rick (and "Rick" is Jason Statham, but I won't get confused...) and who better than Rick's buddy Glenn to help out?
5. "Dutch" - Because who doesn't want to see Arnold Schwarzenegger as a no-nonsense black ops soldier mowing down zombies?!?

And the following side notes:

* Okay, if they add Solid Snake they gotta create 3 versions: Survivor, Zombivor, cardboard box. Yes, the box. That would be epic...
** If they ever add cards that come with survivors, then I would consider trading Glenn for Daryl, and his crossbow.

Since they don't seem to be limiting themselves to genre inspired characters there are infinite possibilities, but some missing types I think would be good and my recommended example.

A Child: Little Rock from Zombieland, but I don't see her happening since they announced Tallahassee, so maybe Carl Grimes from The Walking Dead
A Pregnant Woman: Marge Gunderson from Fargo
A Tough Old Guy: John F. Kennedy from Bubba Ho-Tep
A Police Detective: Bill Nelson from Doomsday
A Prisoner: John Coffee from The Green Mile

They don't seem to be including any Toxic City Mall promos but if they change that then I'm not the only one who would like to see.

There's A LOT of characters to go for. A few of them for me:
-Bill Murray from Zombieland
-MacGyver
-Daryl from The Walking Dead
-Jay and Silent Bob from Mallrats

-Terry Crews from Expendables
-Daniel Craig from 007
-Bruce Lee
-Bill and Ted from.... Bill and Ted
-Jack Bauers from 24

and the list goes on... There's just SO many! (I actually went for 10... hahaha)

Yeah, doubly so when you consider that "Lea" is most likely based on Wichita (Zombieland). Having a kid would give the game a different feel, but from what I've seen of Carl so far, he certainly ranks as a survivor.

But... what about Elvis then?

A Police Detective: Bill Nelson from Doomsday

I don't know... we already have two cops (Phil/Nick). I would add Brad... only he's apparently not being portrayed as "Dirty Harry".

A Prisoner: John Coffee from The Green Mile

Well, we should consider Season 2 takes place in a prison, but we only have one survivor who is a "prisoner" (Dakota).

Lea is definitely Wichita, which made it seem like three Zombieland characters was too much to consider.

No Bubba Ho-Tep Elvis only because only one homage per actor.

I guess I went with Doomsday because I wanted Bob Hoskins and that's the only zombie movie I could think of him in. It could just as easily have been "gangster" or "private eye" rather than detective. But a plainclothes tough guy of some sort.

1. Buffy Summers: We need more zombie-related girls, and she's definitely on that list.
2. Claire Redfield: Resident Evil (the games) deserves some love!
3. Daryl Dixon: He's Daryl. Nuff said.
4. Arnold Schwarzenegger (Terminator 2 version): He's Arnie. Nuff said. T2 because it's his most iconic (and coolest) costume.
5. Bill from L4D: We need more military types, we need more survivors who fall outside the 20-30-year-old range, and Left 4 Dead definitely deserves a homage.

If GG ever adds in a "invention" system, like Dead Rising 2, then yes.

Daryl from The Walking Dead

He's a good choice, I'll give him that, but Glenn gets my vote because his character exists in both the comic and TV series, while Daryl was only added in the TV series.

Jay and Silent Bob from Mallrats

Yup, as I commented before, I agree this would be an interesting idea.

Jackie Chan

I don't know, I would opt for Jet Lee or Bruce Lee... someone with "Lee" in their name is what I'm getting at, I guess.

Terry Crews from Expendables

Hmmm, an interesting choice. I wouldn't be against it.

Daniel Craig from 007

Definitely a great idea. I can't argue against the need for more spies...

I don't know... maybe Jackie Chan would be, just kidding. Great selection. I think Bruce needs another chance to get out there and kick ass again.

But maybe some people never backed the original Kickstater and missed out on "Ash" (not me... I wait for his arrival, in April as I recall). Still, if he looked too much like Bruce it would add a degree of confusion.

Well GG isn't limiting itself to zombie genre movies with their choices, even if I wish they would be slightly more selective.

Nice choices. If you want old school, why not go back to the original? Barbara from Night of the Living Dead. The fact that the movie is now in the public domain would even mean there aren't any copyright restrictions to using her image/name (I would assume, since you can "own" the movie without issue).

Buffy is a nice choice, as "Wendy" doesn't seem to be all that much like Juliet Starling (Lollipop Chainsaw), so we could do with a character that actually looks like a cheerleader (assuming you are even suggesting she be dressed as such). Claire Redfield, but not Leon S. Kennedy? As for Daryl, as above, I think Glenn deserves it more. Arnold is a win, whether Terminator or "Dutch". L4D may work too...

Also, does anyone want to guess who the latest optional survivor is supposed to be? My guess would have to be Foxxy Cleopatra from Austin Powers in Goldmember.

True, Barbara was the stereotypical sign of the times. As for Adriana: She does remind me of Foxxy, as well as Pam Grier from "Coffy" yet more old school lol.

Ah, Columbus. As was pointed out, we have 2 survivors from Zombieland and I think many expect the choices to be more spread-out. I have to say, I'm a little surprised no one has posted a request for Snake Plissken yet, considering how his name kept popping up in the Kickstarter newsfeed.

Nice guess, but the hair colours just don't match... not to mention the earrings and shirt collar do match for Foxxy 9similar, but smaller earrings for "Coffy"):

So in the end it comes full circle. I can't argue with that logic.

On the topic of "next survivor" I think Ed would be a safe bet for GG, because think of it, if you've already invested money in the miniature that looks like Shaun, then who wouldn't feel the urge to also buy Ed? It's like with Tallahassee, you feel the need to purchase Wichita so you can own the set.

As for Snake, hope he does make a showing... another thought: After seeing EFNY again recently... the char. of Romero made me think lightly of Billy Idol who would also be a pretty slick survivor!

Which got me thinking GG should create another miniature of Samuel L. Jackson, but this time as FBI agent, Neville Flynn. Then they could sell him as part of a set along with Solid Snake and Snake Plissken. The set could be called: Snakes on a Plane.

Daryl and Carl from Walking dead, as a survivour crossbow hunter and a survivour cowboy child. They'r from a zombie Tv serie, we got Phil why not the rest.
Jack Bauer, we got Chuck why not the other Big survivour
Rest of Zombieland crew including Bill Murray, there only three more...so complete the group with the little girl survivour (maybe a pair with Carl?)

Leonard or Penny from bigbangtheory, seldom needs some control figure xD

Well my friend wants to buy Shaun's miniature, while I'm interested in Pamela (Dakota, or Double-D Dakota, as I call her ) and Foxxy (Adriana), since I think we need more women. As for Rick... I may pass on him just because I call Phil "Rick", just so I can occasionally yell, "MY WIFE IS DEAD!".

Also, in the original Kickstater we had 6 free promo miniatures (Nick, Dave, El Cholo... "Ash", "CTS", and Eagle PLUS they all came with zombivor versions... although we had no clue back then what that meant), and so far in this Kickstarter we have 4 free promo survivors. Do you think they plan to give us 2 more free ones?

Interestingly enough Sedition Wars released the entire crew of the Serenity from the series Firefly (but named their starship "Calamity", for copywrite reasons). GG seems to be more skittish and hasn't tried doing anything similar, even though I would have liked to have seen miniatures of all the characters. It kinda annoys me to no end that Rick's miniature is named "Phil"... I may not know copywrite laws, but I'm fairly sure so long as they didn't name him Rick Grimes they could have gotten away with just naming him Rick.

I think her name was Little Rock... as every character was named after a location. Well, except Bill Murray. Actually the whole Bill Murray angle was very strange, although I know he and Woody are friends IRL.

Funny, among my friends Dave (i.e. Sheldon) is the most hated survivor. Whenever he's dealt to someone by random selection they beg to trade him for anyone else. Kinda sad.
