Sometimes things go wrong... and sometimes you just dont like what you do with your mini, thats the point where one has to decide either to go on...or to walk another path... I decided to walk another part so now my Champ is going to be a dark blue/grey and he has grown a beard somehow... ;-)

still have to work on the highlights and softening the shades to the midtones but i realy like where this little fellow is going so far, way better than with the red i have to add!
thanks for wathcing and feel free to coment!

Hey dude. I know how you feel about moving on sometimes. You should keep the red marine to one side and come back to him. IMO he was looking good, edge highlights would have made him look more complete.

The blue grey guy is off to a good start. I'd focus on building the contrast so more highlights needed. Also focus on keeping these neat and tidy. I like the tattoos on his head.

Cheers

Something different as a distraction and something veeeeery different... I wanted to build some Warpclaws( nope nether gona play ´em^^) and so I well... "stole" some inspiration... bought some Gargoyles and had some fun with the parts, and thats what came out :

Really cool bases and conversion. Thats a lot of black to paint though if you are going pure Batman on them!!!

Thanks Will,I like them too, and the bases were realy fast and easy achieved... 3-4 layers of cork broken and cut into a form I liked, glued togeher drilled for a pin( they´re actualy pined to the bases so the pins wont break out of the soft cork) some glue sand/soil mix... ready.... took me about... 15 minutes for all 5 bases( and there are 5 more to go but I have to convert the Warpclaws first with wings and tails)
In fact I dont know how to paint them yet but thought about something way more shiny and glowing than Batman... but... hm black/red or monochrome black could work too perhaps with only some red or yellow ( cause yellow seems to be even more evil than red^^) glowing eyes? What do you guys think think?

Hey mates,

finaly I got my hands on some of the HH Miniatures of the FW range, but not only some ordinary Minis, far from it!
Angron, Loken and Abaddon visited me last Week and thats why I started to build them, and afterwards I will paint them.

In time there will be the other Primarchs and important Characters in this thread too, so stay tuned and feel free to coment!

First, I started building the base for the duel, I have to say, realy nice work with tihs little piece of art, no mould failures to correct but... well there was one thing I disliked about it... they send an oval base with it, where one can place the debris-scene on... but it only fills ca. 50% of the base!

Something I could not, would not stand in the room, so I started to fill up the base with some kork(cork? dont know the exact word sry)... it gained some height, what seemd legit in my eyes, next step was cutting it in the right shape of the base and building a smooth way between base and scenery...

The 2nd step was to think about the many tiny details the base has... skulls, skeletons, helmets, debris, parts of walls, pipes and so on and how to copy the grade of detail for the self builded part, but(!!!) without overloading it!
While unpainted it may not seem to look as it could distract from the minis in the end but there´s quite a lot of stuff on the base... thats why i decided to do a bit less stuff.

Right now, there are some self sculpted broken wallparts and bricks 2 skulls from the secret weapons range, a solitary boltgun and a broken pipe... oh yes and a shoulderpad on the backside, plus a mix of sand/earth to cover the cork.

It was at that point of progress I realised I have to cover all of the premade earth of the base too because it would look quite strange to paint it so that will be the next step.

My ideas for the next steps:
-more broken walls?

-perhaps a half burried Space Marine?

-some more pipes or rods?

-parts of armor/discarded weapons?

I you have some ideas, comments or critics let them be heard right now my brothers in arms... brushes... whatever! Feel free to say what you think!

stay tuned !

Ps.: The Warpclaws will have to wait due to this projekt and a comisionwork^^

@KruleBear: Thx! Thats what I hope...that..well and that the base wont steal the show on the the two miniatures :D

Right now there are 2-4 new wall/debris segments waiting/hardening for a buried Marine someone voted for at another platform, still have to convert one into a mor HH-Era looking armor of MK III or IV plate... and searching my bitz for some discarded wargear.
And if I dont like the overall look of the buried Marine I´m thinking of some kind of torn battlestandard as an eyecatcher, what do you guys think?

Almost Perftec! Aw, crap.
It's good! You have managed to make him look very dead with just the pose. Nice work.

@Zab: as always not shy of using kind words, i apreciate it, thanks!

@all: finished the building phase of the base, after priming it black and "fogging" it with white, it looks as all parts fit together as I wanted them to

As usual I apreciate every coment/tip/critic my fellow painting fairys :)

My gut tells me that if you could turn the dead marines wrist such that the sword was laying flat, it would give an even stronger dead perception.

Very cool so far.

Yeah was thinking about that...BUT... the Sword is already resting on a brick... :)

Nice conversion work! Looking forward to more.

Break the sword. Like KB noticed at first, i noticed the same thing too. So, unless it is always viewed from the same angle, I'd break it. A dead marine still holding his broken sword in death, seems to me like something they would do.

Don't stop the momentum. Keep it up!

Moetle, you are so right... after i broke the blade at 2/3 of the length it looks way better! Started to paint the base with the dominating base colour and aplied a first wash, pics will come soon!
