I noticed on the bt website, with who\'m I have my broadband, albeit an old, out-of-date deal, that they have a disclaimer saying that with their 8mb deals, not many people get more than 2mb. I wonder how long that\'s been there. Maybe they put it up knowing about this campaign or they at least have put the truth there, although it certainly isn\'t in the headers, it\'s a footnote.
EDIT: I just had a look at the Virgin Broadband page and a long way down the page it does, in the small print, mention speeds may vary depending on a number of factors, although that certainly does not suggest you\'d expect to get a quarter of the speed advertised. The get-out clause for the providers is the \"up to\" bit, but there\'s a huge discrency between the almost fictional speed and what most users get.
