Some greens

I am slowly working toward the opening of my miniature site and thought I\'d show aoff a few greens. I\'ve gotten a lot of questions about if and when I was going to do this. I honestly never thought I was good enough but so many people kept emailing me I thought, \"why not give it a try?\" Anyway, here are a few greens I can\'t believe how good some of these turned out. The camera sure does show imperfections though, anyway I have one of all these fantasy versions cast and will be cleaning and painting them next. I\'ll replace the green with the painted version and hopefully they will then do the minis some justice. They just do not look good in green. BTW most of these are quite a bit smaller than the standard miniatures out there. I guess Tom Meir\'s are about the same size. Enjoy.

Looks like a good start to your website. And you shouldn\'t sell yourself short on your ability. The greens look really good. I especially liked the Devil Mount that you have, even though you don\'t like the size of the scales. The sci-fi stuff is pretty cool. I like the lanky aliens.

So, keep up the good work, let us all know of updates!

Thank you very much, that makes me happy to hear. I do like the devil mount as well but those scales just seem to large in comparison to the frame. I feel they need to be thinner or smaller in size. I might try and file them off and have another go at it down the road. I\'d also love to get feedback on variations of stuff, for example the minotaur. I did what I would like as a mini but feel that input from others or their version would also be worth trying out. I\'ll be doing another one down the road.

One thing you might do for the scales, since you don\'t like them very much, would be to convert them from scales into armor. Dunno how, but something studded maybe.

Went back and looked at some of the other stuff. I think the minotaur has a really distinct look to it. Normally, the sculpts all follow a general pattern and stylized image of what a minotaur looks like. Yours looks a lot different... the word that immediately came to mind for it was \"intelligent\". It didn\'t look like it was a low intelligence monster.

I really think you\'ve got a very nice fresh perspective on sculpting. It\'ll be interesting to see what comes up next.

I liked the spined devil too. I can imagine it walking around a bit like a gorilla with those large arms.

One last thing to note. The click-to image of the ghost goes to the ghoul\'s picture.

Hi there, just checked out your greens. The one I really like is the dwarf with the huge helmet! All your figures seem kinda long or stretched out - I guess it could be your trademark ;) Nice work, and good luck with your models :D

That\'s some cool stuff - they do all seem kinda gangly, but I rather like that. I prefer the monster stuff to the more humanoid.

they are great, i really like the dwarf with the big horns, although i think some of the models would look better if the swords were thinner, not the human mercenary, but the knight and warrior need thinner swords to look more realistic and more pratical. great work though, good site too.

Love most of it, definitely a distict style.

One word of advice though.

Keep the comments to the topic.
And if you want to sell as business, don\'t down on yourself, do that here, and we\'ll be able to tell you the truth, good or bad, but when someone visits your site, that\'s gonna put them off. I like the Idea of making the Bull with Armor...maybe rework around the joints with straps and muscle. Like a gladiator or something. I like the Tall Lanky aliens. My favorite ones from Star Wars were the ones making the clones.

Edit: (posted same time)
@JesterzUSMC, I am glad you said that about the minotaur. I am thinking about a armored version as well. I\'m not sure about putting myself down though. I am realistic. I\'m getting better everyday and learning tricks here and there but no where near the level of some guy\'s out there. I feel my \"ideas and stlye\" are what will attract most people.

Thanks for all the great deedback. Everyone is 100% right about the lanky feel. Several of those were started sometime back when I was not quite as good as I am not and the proportions were way off. The knight especialy. I chopped his arms and resculpted them from the forearm down and thought it was better but I guess I was wrong. I\'m trying to make minis how I see the fantasy races interacting and based upon history in fiction. For instance, the dwarf. They are dwarfs, big heads and ellongated arms, slightly stocky. They are great craftsman, thuss this simple warrior has some ornate armor. The helmet, well being short I figure they would decorate their helms with crazy monsters found underground to make the more intimidateing.

As for the minotaur, I wanted something more like a mix of man and bull, still large and thick but a feral intelligence and less a bodybuilding bull. I do plan to make the next one a little more thicker and wild though.

Anyway, the weapons. They are somewhat large on a few due slightly to the fact they are cast resin by me. I sculpt, mold, cast, paint, and make the site. If this ever got going good enough I would get a metal setup and be able to make some smaller metal weapons.

I\'m getting better every day and my molds are as well, so I hope to get the next batch better yet. I\'m trying to improve the quality as much as possible yet provide the cheapest cost possible. I\'ll also be suplying cast decorative bases with these. I hope to have some painted pics soon. If I get rained out at work tommorrow I\'ll have some for sure.

Anyway, thanks for all the great comments and I\'ll be making note of them for sure.

Those demons look really cool, they have a real grotesque feeling about them which is what nurgle models need. Great job mate, your sculpting is top notch.

I got a few more of the casts painted. I am not very good at painting, something about a brush just makes my hands jittery.
lich
war troll
elf ranger
dwarf warrior
warrior
knight
I love the elf, just wish it was not so small, very hard to get photos of. The dwarf and human warrior also turned out well. The lich is ok but the glowing vials on his chest are very hard to make out unless you know they are there. as for the troll, this shot says it all.

The painting looks pretty decent to me :) The trouble is, your pics are mostly too dark to see much. The daemon pics and troll detail pic are so much better - you should aim for that sort of brightness in the other pics so detail is more visible.

I really love the paintjobs you did on the greater and lesser daemons. Superb work.

I think they look cool, they look something new and interesting, only criticism is some of the weapons look a bit flat an chubby but you should have faith in your ability the models are really good, and actually interest me if i was to paint one good work

Thank you very much. That is one of the best things ever said to me. I understand the weapons are a bit chunky on this batch, that was due mostly to pushing the limit on the rubber molds. The next btach are going to be multi-part and have thinner weapons, pointier horns, etc. I feel I have a new system that will reduce the problems with much smaller parts filling.

I am very picky about how my molds work and as a collector of minis myself, hate mold lines. I get the finest to almost non existant lines as possible and do not want a bunch of junk sprue clean up. My new method is perfect and will allow me to get these tiny hand swaps, weapons, etc.

I\'m glad you like them, here is the new painted batch. I had trouble getting the vampire to look like I wanted. I was thinking of that movie where the vampire and werewolf mixed and he was a slick blackish blue. Well it did not come off like I wanted. I can get the effect but it will not photograph well, so this poor shot is the variant.
Vampire
This turned out well:
ghost
wraith
ghoul
not to happy about how these turned out either but they let you get some detail.
necromance
This is probably my favorite. If someone who could paint got their hands on this it would be fantastic.
mercenary
and last:
wizard
I\'m now working on the molds for some new bases and the large mutant for the sci-fi range. I\'ll also get those alien everyone is likeing done in this batch. There are a few devils, minoutaur, and the mutant to mold and cast yet, then the molds of the thin alien.
