Many would say that the Beatles were Pop, at least until the White Album.
Kiss (and let me say I\'m a HUGE Kiss fan, seen them twice in Make-up) I wouldn\'t say is a true rock band either. Kiss are more like stage performers. I mean, really, their songs aren\'t that great (although I do think Ace Frehley is probably one of the most under rated guitar players ever) but their performances are freaking amazing. Plus Kiss did foray into Disco. \"I was made for loving you, baby...\"

Fair enough then. We are definitely using the terms differently. But it does put your point in perspective for me.

Nah, I have a feeling Michelle Branch would do pretty well in any genre she chose.
She\'s pretty talented.

The more I think about it, I think you may be right about image.
I truly don\'t consider the Beatles to be that exceptional, until their image makeover.
I think videos have broadened the genres even more.
What were the Eagles, or Fleetwood Mac?
Both can be heard on Classic Rock Stations and Country Stations.
ELO or The Little River Band?
Classic Rock, some country sound, and even orchestra.
Steely Dan, The Dooby Brothers, Kenny Loggins? All had elements of Rock, R&B, and soul.
It seems to me that since the video came along, and people could actually see you, your image became what you were classified as.

And if you know those bands this will crack you up: Yacht Rock

Of course, in your definitions of rock you really have to include Hair Metal. Of Which I\'d Have to say Kiss were one of the founding bands

This really isn\'t that bad.

Within the last year I have taken to putting on Talk Radio in the morning. The local AM radio station. I hear amusing talk, the local weather, any issues on the road (before I find them myself) and local news. I\'ve never known more about what\'s going on in my city....

... and it\'s so very sad. This is one of those \"You know you\'re old when\" moments.

So at least you switched the radio to other music.
