The SD, if implemented, would have to a bit more intelligent than that, instead of just a typical stastics textbook procedure. But you are quite right, vince, and you imply yet more decisions that the CMON server would have to make each time an average vote is calculated.

Otherwise we can just enjoy this nice free site and allow Chern to do stuff in his own time as and when he has the slot to do it, the cash or the desire. Anyone?

As a paying subscriber I feel I am contributing financially. The amount is still peanuts though for the service I get from cmon.

Im for extra benefits (eg vote records) for paying members.

This is something I\'ve been feeling a little guilty about, CMON has been far too good for me for it to be free. South Africa does not support PayPal, because the government charges VAT on bank transaction fees. Any other way to contribute financially?

Good point - and I\'ve stopped using online payments more or less, so I would like to contribute with a cheque or something if I could. Honest. And I think I might buy some paints next month and start up painting again. Huzzah!

If it\'s only us, or even just a few more, then it\'s not really worth Chern Ann\'s effort, is it? It\'d probably cost more to implement another scheme than we\'d contribute. Still, it would be nice to show some appreciation other than just lip service.

Painting had grown some pretty miserable associations to be fair, but now I\'ve exorcised them somewhat i think it\'ll be a great thing to return to the fold!

We could send Chern a cheque though couldn\'t we?

I\'ve updated the voting code a little, so truly anonymous voters (those that block cookies and their IP) won\'t be able to affect results. The majority of voters won\'t be affected. This is basically to remove machine votes.

Hmmm now I am going to have to try and remember what my IP and cookie settings are in case I have them set to blocking.
