specifically the Hulks skin tone. That would be a belting colour for a Black Ork or Warboss.
Now that is a very Olive base tone enhanced by glazes and subtle tones of reddish brown and Grey green highlights.

Okay folks!!! Wanted to take some time to post the latest stage where I'm at and explain how I get some of the effects many question me on! And I must THANK AVELORN FOR SHOWING ME FINALLY HOW TO DO A WIP THREAD! So metallics(weathering and rust, patina) .i usually start with a lead belcher or bolt gun metal base coat. From there I use a general wash of agrax eartshade mixed with a drop of Abadon black. I will wash it down 3 diff times ensuring it really gives me a very blackened look.now from here is where it gets fun (again these are eavy metals recipes) I use thinned scotch brown as a glaze and go to each and every crease corner and places light won't catch. This is done many times to build up intensity like all glazes should be used.then with a glaze of bestial brown ill do the same steps mentioned above. At this point ill also lay random pools of bestial brown this serves as a guide to the last steps you'll see. After that again a glaze of vermin brown and reapply this also over all the random parts of the armor(the claw, the steel toes on the boots , guns etc. now after that ill take (here's where the guide coats help) MIG pigment powders(standard rust and powder applicator(MIG also)) and apply it where all the random patches I picked out would be. After this ill tone it down ,as the powder is a very rich orange/brown, with a glaze if agrax earth shade .the last step is THE PATINA(oxidation that produces a bluish green color) ill use hawk turquoise in very free creases randomly and a few patches again randomly set and sparingly used on the metal work.
There you have the secrets of my weathering for all or any to use or try . View attachment 29432

Lol yeah me and my girl were just talking bout this today I must say its probably the best I've seen in skillset of a miniature painting in my entire career. I was a Lil upset it only took second place and then was even happier that it belongs in a museum which it is. Honestly DR this man arsies can not be human I think to paint like this it's def a superhuman skill. I mean not just flawless but the smoothness the metal effects on caps sheils is just JAWDROPPING . Compared to this I'm EMBARASSED TO SHOW MY WORK INDEED.but it's funny DR I was talking about this piece all day. I'm not envious I'm not down this kinda work is a joy for anybody to look upon and you had to show me the museum quality didn't you . Excuse me WHILE I GO THROW MYSELF OFF A BRUDGE AFTER I SLIT MY OWN THROAT . It'll be many years before I even consider myself in this league and probably won't ever be an arsies, a sprocket a DRAGONSREACH (knew YOUDE like that) or any top name but I'm going to try to get better and better. But gees DR you picked arsies avengers. Ya killing me!

I see exactly where your coming from though first things first I'm getting myself reacquainted with reds and red purples for the glazing of shades and transition colors . Everything I finis so being I started them before I knew bout the grey green cool highlights I at least have yo finish them with the colors chosen (OCD) so this natch will be working with reds and not going for my yellow grn fluorescent glaze at the end. But rest assure now I know the colors that you e chosen for me for the new ork warboss in the new 40 k box set now that I will bring into play the missing link in these which is the olive skin recipe with the reds/ brown glazing to deepen shadows followed up into the cool grey/ olive green highlights. Put UOUR Balts on boys this is gonna take awhile. But really time is all I have being disabled and all! I'm stoked DR I'm really stoked following your lead.

Bloodasmediums w i p cont.

Just another lighting to show where I'm at and where I work. DRAGONSREACH has really made me step up and way of of my comfort zone and def it feels like learning to paint all over again with the addition of some new ways to do things including tone transitions and shading with reds etc. here's again my efforts shown from my work office bench but will be a long time before I honestly can show some significant progress but I def like the direction papa DRAGONSREACH has me going in.

Crickey, you don't sit still now, don't you? I like the blood you've got there. Great colour and application.

Papa Dragonsreach speaks again ;
OK then John; another suggestion, add VMC Pale Flesh (GW Elf Flesh equivalent) as a highlight additive to your green to change the tone of the highlights into a one more suggestive of flesh.
As always Tiny amounts and thin paint work best.

Must dig out an Orc soon myself to practice what I preach.

Hahaha I blame the Machine uprising

Volgar looks ace now and he was good to begin with. The skin has a real warmth and luminescence that it lacked before. Well done that man

Nice changes the red addition really helped the biceps and abs, but looks a tad out of place on the pectoral muscles. Might want to glaze that area back down a few knotches with one of your greens.
