Played first game of Warmachine...

Two of my coworkers and I played our first games of Warmachine yesterday, and I was amazed at what a fast paced and dynamic game it is. We played a sample combat (just some close combat) on Thursday, and Friday we were playing full games. There were very few rules questions other than terminology.

Khador ended up winning both starter battles against my Menoth and the other fellow\'s Cryx, mostly due to Sorscha bringing the whoop.

In my one game, I smashed my heavy \'jack into one of his heavy \'jacks, sending it backwards into Sorscha, damaging both of them and knocking them down. Then (that same turn) I advanced my \'jack with the flamethrower and flamed them both on the ground. Huge fun!

The turn before that, his \'jack with the ice axe dealt a vicious, boosted hit that completely severed the shield arm from one of my light \'jacks.

The game ended when Sorscha used a cost 4 spell (that\'s a lot, for the non-Warmachine players) to immobilize my warcaster, Kreoss, and then step forward a plug him with her handgun, finishing off his last few health points. Execution style.

Big, big fun.

Welcome to the game then :)

And just wait \'till Sorcha starts doing her \"woosh\" on you. Then it\'s not so fun anymore ;)

But then again, there are so many way to deal with it, once you learn the tricks.

And remember to take a look at PP\'s fora as well. There\'s both tactics and everything. Loads of need things to hit your opponent with...

I can\'t wait! I picked up my first battlegroup, and am anxious to get them finished and on the table to throw down. (Or, throw hakomikes warjacks around, consider the gauntlet thrown mike;) ) I am playing Magnus, and other mercs. I really like the feel and flow of the game. I can\'t wait to pick up some infantry. Although, with Hordes coming out...sigh, too much cool stuff, too little money...

I love war machine (If you couldn\'t tell because that\'s all I\'ve got in my gallery). I love playing Khador, and am working on buying enough berserkers to play the \"Vlad is the only man crazy enough to charge into battle with 5 berserkers\" army, which is coincidently, exactly 500 points. Weeeeeeeeee

Just got my first starter pack a couple weeks ago, and have been working on them to get ready to play with a few friends that also grabbed starter packs.

Looking forward to it, myself. Been wanting to try this game since I first learned of it here, shortly after registering.

My group? Protectorate of Menoth. My friend picked them for me, because he thinks religious zealotry suits my personality. lol

Soon\'s my little group\'s play-worthy, I\'m leaping in with both feet, and I\'ll let you know how badly I got whupped. :)

I\'ve been building my army up slowly in anticipation of a 750pt tourney in late October. We\'ve been playing weekly, and it has completely replaced Warhammer as the local gaming flavor.

Naukel, if you start building up, Choirs are great fun! I never leave home without the glee club.

Well, I\'ve played my first game, using a borrowed starter set that was already painted, now. I\'m hooked.

I also did some serious building of my point total. Got myself a Guardian, a full choir, and a unit of knights exemplar.

Going to be painting a lot, now, as I am motivated to have my army nice and playable, ASAP.

My first game was Menoth vs. Cryx, and I was doing surprisingly well, until my poor Kreoss got all destroyed in turn 6.

Second game was incomplete, and was WARMACHINE vs. Hordes, four player nightmare. I got slaughtered by the two players doing Hordes, while the other WM player hadn\'t been touched yet. But I took 4 of 9 units with me, so I didn\'t feel too bad. :)

My wife is happy that I\'m happy, but still rolled her eyes at the size of my purchase. Heh.

I played my first game yesterday, it was my Khador (Russians) against My friends stand-in protectorate.

I managed to waste/Destroy/Crush/Annihilate all his warjacks bar one, losing none in return, but lost the game because of a foolhearty (spelling?) charge with my warcaster against his warcaster (Sorcha Vs. Kreuss, to cool to be missed out lol)

All in all, we had a blast, and now im attending a 500 pt turnament the 29 (yikes..)

Sounds like a good first game Product. Do you already have a 500pt force worked out ?

No not yet.. ive got the battle box, and a unit of widow makers, and is currently pooling money for the last 140 pts..

Anyone got a good idea? (It must be cheap)

(Also, ive played a second game, the samething, almost, happened again...
Maybe i need to protect my warcaster a little better ..eh?)

Cortex Smugglers is a good place to buy from if your looking to save some extra money.

My mate uses the Butcher and he is solid in combat. Another mate used the Kodiak on me the other week and it just kept knocking my jack down. the widow makers are an excellent long ranged unit.

Yeah, I pee my pants just a little when someone fields the Butcher.

Mortar crews are cheap and effective for anti-infantry, and can even hurt a jack at times. Man\'o\'wars are scary and hard as nails.

Man\'o\'war Kovnik and Berserker \'jack are a classic combo too. The kovnik marshalls the berserker so it can do things (boost, get an extra attack, etc.) without using focus. Using focus tends to make the berserker blow up.
Iron fang pikemen are nice too... they are overlooked sometimes, but their critical knockdown has lost me a game in the past.

For the points, I love the Marauder \'jack. Something in the way? Slip off to the side and pound it d6 inches to open the path for a charge on the warcaster.

well, as im on a budget, id like to know how many Points a unit of pikemen are ? (They look cool (^^)

Or the \'zerker?

Or the Kodiak? (A theme emerges...)

(Oh, and im only allowed one warcaster, and thats gonna be Sorscha)

Well, the reason im mostly considering the pikemen, is i need something to watch my Warcasteer, every game ive played (2) ive lost because se stuck her neck out a bit to much...

I actually played my first 2 introduction games a couple of weeks back. One was confrontation (stripped and scaled version)... which I liked a lot. I played the wolfen and won by an inch. But the full rules looked rather confusing.
The other game was Warmachine. Something I might even be able to play in my hometown if I want. I played Cryx (again a stripped down rules game) and with some tactical help I won that one too.

Now I got a Cryx starterset (warband box, still by far the coolest looking fraction in my eyes) and plan to paint them to field a few times in the future in the relative new store in town.

Yeah we played the first game 1 week ago ;)
I was playing Cryx , and my friend was playing Khador...
I got whooped :p
Sorscha\'s feat and critical strikes are terrible - my Deneghra got 3 criticals from sorscha and 1 feat , as did my 3 warjacks , so was frozen for 4 turns. Made a mistake sending my mechanithralls to fight infantry and snipers...
When they started disemboweling khadoran warjacks it was too late - Sorscha finished off my Dennie :(:flame:

This game rocks!
I\'m switching from GW, which was i my opinion too sow, and not \'gamer friendly\'.
Love the damage grids, love the fact that you don\'t have to browse through any books to deal damage and roll dice.
This game is future :p
And the minis are nice too ;)

Its so simple to play but not in a way small children could play. But it requires a good thought out plan and a balanced force, so you can damage and also stand up to attacks.
