OCD or strange painting habits?

I cannot paint more than one mini at once... don\'t know why, while I can assemble/convert about 3 or 4 at any given time... weird but I just can\'t!!! I HAVE to finish one before I can start another one... I guess thats what takes me so damn long...

OK i have this little OCD myself.

 then send a couple my way:twisted:

I have to take a shower before I paint - being a mechanic it is the only way to make sure my hands are completely clean.

I also force myself to read a chapter in my book in between short paint sessions. Otherwise I will either just read my book, which is not conducive to finishing any minis. Or I will just keep slapping paint on the minis, which, without the proper drying time, makes them look really crappy.

But knowing you, you\'d probably go there with a great big smile on your face.

I have a few weird painting habits.

1. Always perch on the chair and have on knee up using it as \'the rest\' for my mini while I paint it.

2. I drink at least three cups of tea per hour of painting, the kettle is constanly on the boil.

3. Lock the cats outside the room because they always want to sit on me when I paint or grab the brushes.

4. Listen to music or have a movie on in the background.

5. During the music or movie I clench and unclench my gootch and bum hole in time to the music or sometimes I just make my buttocks dance in time to the beat.

6. Make weird didgeriedoo (spl?) noises and speak in tongues.

7. Breathe heavily, then notice I\'m breathing heavily and get annoyed by it.

8. While waiting for paint to dry I mess about in my bitz box or make small greenstuff toadstools, snakes, horns and scrolls.

9. Cover my hands in pva glue wait for it to dry then slowly peel it off like skin.

10. Get cravings for crunchy snacks like twiglets.

11. Tidy my desk putting everything in its right place including lining up any minis on said desk into a special \'your next\' order.

I also \'de-paint-ring\' my old citadel paints and have to have the large side of slotta bases to the front like others have mentioned.

Thank God it\'s not just me!

I don\'t have many particular mini oriented OCDs, but I guess one is that when I find a jar for cleaning my brushes in, it can\'t have any writing on the lid, and I have to get the label off the glass. I\'ve never tried painting otherwise, so I guess it really is a mini OCD.

The other thing is that I generally fold a tissue or paper towel into a rectangle shape, pin it under a coaster with the coaster oriented away from me and on my right, and place the water jar on top of the coaster. It\'s like feng shui or something, I can\'t paint witout that desk layout. lol

Once I put a layer of top coat on a miniature and take a picture of it, I have a really, really hard time going back to do any touch ups. It\'s like once I have said \"this mini is finished,\" it is put in a \"done!\" category in my head and it takes a great deal of will power to do anymore painting to it, and I rarely do unless there\'s a really big area I\'ve forgotten to paint or something.

I also have a very hard time working on more than one miniature at a time - probably why I will never paint a proper army for any game system. :)

I use a little shotglass while painting to put the protecting tubes of my brushes in, so they cannot get lost.

I can\'t paint the flats first, I always paint my minis to completion, bit by bit. I never do all the flats, then move onto the shades or higlights. It\'s always this leg, that pouch, that gun, that jewel. Makes painting stupidly slow, but very satisfying.

I never change or clean my palate! and I don\'t seem to be able to paint without it. It\'s just a warhammer movement tray. Here is it about 15 months ago, the paint is quite a bit thicker on it now :)

I lick brushes too (often!), but I don\'t think that\'s strange :)

Similarly, I use the inside of a mini blister. Not quite this built up though.
