No news coverage....

No word from Nova on how that event went.

Still no official word about the results at GenCon.

Boggles the mind how they just keep ignoring this game as far as web presence goes. I got a group of five guys locally that are playing and enjoying but as far as new player anyone I talked to has never heard of this game.

I feel CMON is in it to make money. Just pump out games to see what sticks. But even worse. They don't seem to care because there is no company presence. My lgs owner has doubts about Wrath of Kings because there is no info on what's coming next. Especially since there didn't seem to be any info at Gencon.

Really makes me appreciate companies like PP and Wyrd. They really seem to love their respective games and want them to succeed. They always seem to have a presents on their forums. I don't get that from CMON.

IMHO.

That's weird though, because I also play Dark Age (rights also held by CMON) and they support that game pretty solidly.

Maybe Dark Age is the favored child and WoK is the runt of the litter.

They announced the new stuff at the expo, it's expected Q1 2016. The release plan for WoK sounds different than DA. Stuff for every faction all at once.

It would be nice if they would update their main Wrath of Kings page more often. I think the last thing added was from July 23rd. The apparent lack of news makes me worry about the future of this game.

You really need to follow Facebook and Twitter to keep on top CMoN games. Loads of updates there, while this forums are basically a service to the painters. I'd personally like to see the two more in sync.

Twitter is littered with board game news and the facebook page has almost zero real news on it. Just convention announcements.

If you look at the facebook page they put up info about the first day of Gencon tourney, then nothing since about it. Who won? What effect will that win have? If you are going to base your narrative around competitive events then you should probably talk about their impact.

They have 4 "official" places for them to put news and info if you only count the Wrath specific stuff. Facebook, Wrath website, Kisckstarter page, and here. Of the four spaces, none of them have the same type of news. Its just so sparse and sporadic.

It would just be nice if they actually talked about their own game, and did it somewhere consistent.

Personally, I'd prefer to see the same news in all four spaces. But yes, there hasn't been much new stuff. Also, the unofficial page has more support than the official one... The GenCon tournaments might not have been all that successful.

The turn out for the first day at gen con was ok, it could have been better but cmon got a late start on the event registration. I think the other limitation was to have day 2 and 3 be invitation only events that required people to sign up for the first day. I will be interested in seeing how cmon plans on running the tournaments next year. I know there is plans on making improvements but it is hard to say what they will be. As for gen con event results there are a couple of threads in this forum that talk about army lists, game results and event result. Again what that means to the WoK has not been announced yet.

I was at Nova for Malifaux, there were lots of people demoing it, but i did get the feeling that darkage was the preferred child. i however have Malifaux and wanted something bigger and the models for WoK were gorgeous so I came home with a bunch. Hope that CMoN gets going on supporting this.

Hey guys!

We currently are working towards improving the community around our games. For Wrath of King we are revamping the narrative event system for conventions, to go along with a new quarterly campaign plan for organized play. In addition we will be moving the play test for Book II to an open format, so look for that later this month. Hope this helps, and keep an eye out for myself or a few other newbies as we work towards this goal.

Landon,

Thanks for chiming in. Helps to know someone is working on it.

So what is the conclusion here? It's been about a month since Landon's post and I'm still struggling to find any meaningful news on WoK on the web...?

Where are these unofficial forums that somebody mentioned were active?

Honestly, I've given up on the game entirely. Between the utter lack of attention shown and my issues with painting the Carcharians, I decided it just wasn't worth it.

I'm not interested in joining a Facebook group in order to learn about Wrath of Kings. When I should be able to learn about Wrath of Kings from their web site.

You don't even have to join the group. Go to the main Facebook page, click like and set the notifications to all posts and get notified instantly when they post something. :)

I have to agree there. I don´t like facebook very much and all the information about the game should be available on the website.
