Weeeell I know that they\'re (GW) coming out with a new nid codex, but are they making a WHOLE new range as well? On their site they have up a pic of a new spiffy zoanthrope but I dont know if they are comming out with a whole new range or not, anyone know? It would be kind of rediculous since didn\'t they come out with a new range fairly recently?

you shold check the other forums here...

new tyranids include....

genestealers
hive tyrant
zoanthropes
carnifex
genestealer brood lord
gargoyles
etc

pretty much everything is getting a makeover. they changed the rules that much ALL the old model have the wrong biomorphs (which no longer exist), so they had to make new models for the revamped codex.

that isn\'t true. Most of the bio-morphs will still be available. Even the tyrant guard will allegedly still be useable in their old incarnation.

They do all look utterly rubbish though, especially the tyrant guard.

Just checked out some of the new scuplts, and I must say the only new one I prefer over the old is the Lictor. The old Lictor looked like crap in my opinion and the new one does away with those silly meathooks growing from its chest. The new Hive Tyrant is suitably tyrannical but not really any better than the old. The new Zoanthrope looks like the Norn Queens just got lazy and stopped designing fearsome, imposing monsters and stopped at comical and harmless.

I must agree, Gw have been going through a design crisis for the better part of around 2-3 years now, where slowly but surely all their design finess has given way for cartoon like nastiness. The new \'Nids are no exception and verge on the sheer absurd, dark days are ahead for GW if they dont get their better sculpters back into front line models.

Are they going to make that biovor that looks like a red monkey with a cannon on his back (from the Battle for Maccrage book?)lol

Ugh.

The last Tyranid production run\'s Biovore was, indeed, a pewter-scuplted piece of ass. GW\'d be hard-pressed to make a worse looking one, so high hopes in that department, anyway.

I actually quite like the new stuff.

The genestealers are an improvement, the Tyrant guard I\'m not sure about, but better than the old crap, Zoanthrope and Tyrant I like the same as the old one, lictor is an improvement on the 2nd one, but I think I like the 1st one best. Not seen any new biovore, which is a shame coz the 2nd one was crap.

I still have 2 of the old lictors and biovores from my old army and this seems the perfect opportunity to revisit the nids, I\'ll be getting battle for Macragge and the army box with the special edition lictor.

Looking foward to it :)

As for design, I thought the brettonians were great and by all accounts the Wood Elves are amazing.

I like some of the older stuff.. I have these Zoats and can do nothing with them.

I like the deformed Bunny Style Warriors with the cool rib cage.

I do however like some of the 3rd edition models.. The new Carnifex ( Red Terror ) was an awesome job.

The newer stuff.. is ehh.. I hate the new Genestealers.. Squid faced.. nah. Stoopid looking.. but hey thats just my opinion, that and 5 bucks will get you a cup of gormet coffee.

I do like the new Zoanthrope.. I like the exposed brain, kinda old school mixed into the new school.. same with most of the new models they went back to the roots and mixed it with the newer stuff and came up with these. Until I can hold one in my hand though I can not make too good a judgement call.

I have heard that the new codex will give the bite back to the bugs.. One can only hope.. and the new models will once again force all you Tyrand Players and GW fan Boys to spend your hard earned money on a whole new set of models if you want to use them to compete, and play.. and that there is the answer to whats up with that.

Im sorry but I have to jump on the \'I like them\' band wagon. To me the models are fine and in most part are an improvement, but the new studio paint scheme lets them all down.

The Tyrant is an improvement, I never liked the previous one. I like how they\'ve bulked it out.

The new stealers look great. There was nothing wrong with the previous ones, but they are very out-dated and static compared to the new ones.

Tyrant Guard Im not sure about. I prefer them to the old ones as I think the previous guard are some of the worst models GW have ever done.

The new Carnifex is just impressive and a massive improvement on the previous 2.

Zoanthrope I like also.

The only thing Im really disappointed about is the BroodLord, doesn\'t look like a HQ choice mini to me.

The only true new minis as far as I can see are the Brood lord and the Carnifex which are both cool models. The tyrannids and the Hive tyrant are just rehashes of old models.

whoa! wait!

Guys, guys! Somebody has to explain to me objectively, why nobody likes the new tyrant guards! I mean, they are just are totally new approach to the \"trant guards\" in general. The old ones looked like spiderman with six arms and the new ones rather like dogs, which is getting closer to the image i have in mind.

the new fex is looking gorgeous, and please note that cool headswap-possibility! and as for the lictor, i have to agree with trevor - the first ones were the best.

after a lot of prais, i must say: what the F**k did they think when they made up that genestealer lord? i mean, c\'mon! it looks ridiculous. and as for the genestealers: i would have welcomed a more human approach to them.

I like the new models myself, including the much berated new Tyrant Guard. AFAIK the point of the new releases is to replace the old metal models with plastic models, as part of a policy to have as much as possible of the main armies for each game available in plastic instead of metal. That\'s what I\'ve been told at least. :]

... and I don\'t see anything wrong with that... at least I\'ll have to glue less friggin metal...
And just to toss in my worthless opinion:
-Genies are ok (\'tleast no more blue Space hulk plastic)
-Brood Lord is a nice alternative... Genie Army List? bruahahahahahr!!!
- Zoanthrope: Like the head, hate the body... too short...
-Lictor: I liked all and every Lictors so far...
- The Carnifex: massive... more options... all good in my book.
-The Tyrant... Old style body is cool, but I miss the \"alien queen\" head... :~(
-The Guards finally look like absorbed Space Marines... goodie! :D
- The new Raveners and Gargoyles I haven\'t seen yet,
-The rest stays the same, which might be good (Warriors) or bad (the Biovore)

Just a little extra-info

as far as i am informed, there is noch such thing as a biovore anymore. the carnifex has fully taken this job as you can see, he has three hull-variations, which include spore cysts and spine banks (whatever the second one may be, never been a player, rather a painter/modeller). HE is the new biovore, as a sort of aquivalent to a tank. thus the size.
