About the size, i've being using size 0 Condor brushes (They only sell even sizes, at least in all stores i went) as my standard brushes and i think that it's better to stick to the size i used the most.
That seems like a good idea to begin with. In case you missed it, on Dick Blick they list diameter and length for the brush heads so I'd use this info to compare to your current brushes.

As already mentioned by Crayfish, brush sizes vary. And they can vary a lot, for size 0 the listed dimensions in four brands are:
Raphaël 8408 - 1.6mm x 10mm;
Blick's Master Series - 1 mm x 8mm;
W&N Series 7 - 1.6mm x 9mm;
Da Vinci 1526 - 1.3 mm x 6.9 mm.

I was going to buy at Miniature Market but while i use Vallejo paints i wanted to buy some GW Washes and they don't ship GW stuff to Brazil.
Paint, water plus a bit of Future or acrylic medium = wash. The money you save on maybe two pots might allow you to get another size 0 brush!

Thanks for the answer Einion. Next time I will start another thread.

As for a store that sells both GW and Vallejo and also sells brushes try
http://www.sentrybox.com

Its not an American retailer, but a Canadian one though they do ship internationally. I dont know what shipping is like to Brasil but they do have alot of stuff so it might be worth looking into.

Interesting. Have you ever looked at those wash recipes? http://awesomepaintjob.com/Les__Wash_Recipe.html

Nice site. There are no used minis there? I'm impressed with some of the prices in Warhammer 40k stuff, way cheaper than places i know.

BTW, sadly it seems they don't have all Air metallics i'm looking for...

Sorry for double posting but i contacted Sentrybox and the person that answer me said they fear the paint might get frozen while shipping. Is that possible? I also noticed the shipment prices are far more than UK and USA. Strange i think.

Nope, hadn't seen that one before but same basic principle as magic wash.

I think that's now an obsolete worry - lots of stuff is shipped in the holds of passenger aircraft these days and the holds are insulated just like the rest of the plane (it can get cold, as you can sometimes feel when collecting your luggage from the carousel, but it doesn't go down to -30°C or anything).

Thx, but i just discovered that shipping from Canada is about 3 times the shipment form UK or USA. I think i'm going to buy everything at Maelstrom as i always did.

About the brushes, i bought them at Blicks, now it's just waiting for the shipment to arrive.

To increase the lifetime of your kolinsky brushes I recommend turpentine. At first this seems a bit rough for the brush, but I have to say it works great. I normaly do this after painting:
1. wash brush with warm water
2. stir brush in turpentine (I usually buy cleaning turpentine for oil colors)
The turpentine helps to dissolving dried color, especially in the fork (? - the region right beneath the metallic holder)
3. wash brush with warm water and a bit of shampoo
4. rinse out with clean water
5. strike the brush over a piece of curd soap to get a nice pointy tip.

It seems a bit time-consuming, but it's not a big deal after all and your brushes will be in good shape for a long, long time! :)

By the gods... Buying some brushes is becoming an enormous problem. Blicks won't send international orders by USPS, only Fedex, which costs 3 times more. It's even more than the brushes themselves. So i need ot find yet another store. BTW, i don't care anymore if it's from UK, their shipping takes al ot to arrive but at least it cheaper.

EDIT: Bought from Jackson's Art Supplies: http://www.jacksonsart.co.uk. Even before shipping it was cheaper than at Blick's. I decided to buy a 5/0 because they didn't have a 4/0 there. I hope it's not too small.

Hello guys, i'm back in my quest for the brushes. After a long wait because Jackson's Art Supplies didn't had the brushes on stock i changed the order to a 1 and a 0/3. It was finally shipped 15/09, hope it arrives soon.

But there comes a new problem. I received my credit card bill and there were three payments to be made for Jackson's Supply Store! Like i bought everything i bought three times! Just contacted them and would like to say i'll never be buying from the again. I'll also use paypal for all my buyings from now on.

Just to add to you fun, for brush life get a pot of "The Masters" brush soap.
Tan colord plastic container with a lanolin heavy soap in it.

That's what i'm getting with the brushes.

And BTW, i was wrong about the payment, it's correct and i was reading the bill wrong, the credit card company has clarified it for me.
