a couple of weekends ago i tagged along with my friends familly to nottingham, the birthplace of games workshop. now home to; warhammerworld, the factory, the miniature hall of fame and the legendary bugmans bar, warhammer world is always thriving with gamers and hobbiests alike.
some of my favourite aspects of the shop are;
A: a special order only takes half an hour, yes only 30 mins.
B: there is no order price limit (no minimum price mark) so you can order just one space marrine head if you wish.
C: you can buy forgeworld over the counter, despite your age, AND if they dont have it in stock they will post it to your house free of charge....:D

this is just a front for their evil manopoly;), view of factory front that faces the road....

matt, my best friend, on the left. he had a 40k chaos army which he never used, he aint into models any longer so he spent all day on a nintendo DS.

Chris, right, matts little brother and one of my hobby/ model collecting padawans. he boasts a grand 2000 point bad moons orc army, and now owns matts chaos space marrine army.... he bought a forge world orc fighter bomber that day, which is now built and awaiting a good paint job ( wich i\'ll have to help with:rolleyes: )

any comments or questions are welcome....

I plan a world trip in about 4 years but Im not sure if GW will be around that long. They seem to be sinking fast and throwing good money after bad to try and bail themselves out. So I may have to go earlier just so I can see all the showcase minis cause I dont know what would happen to them if the company disolved.

It is very unlikely that they will go under, more likely some one with brains will be put in charge after some serious head knocking goes on. They are big enough now to take years of bad management before slipping beyond the event horizon. After all, Wizards of the Toast bought the suffering TSR. Hasbro is probably thinking, \" Run it into bankruptcy so that we can get it at a bargain\"

Looks a cool place...

Ironically, I live about 15-20 miles away from it and have never been lol

I think I may take my son there.... he\'d love it (could be a costly excursion though - and I\'m not sure that I\'d want him being hooked into the EE hobby at such a young age lol)

Great pics fredwinu. Great to see one of the legendary Mike McVey dioramas in there

I think the car game was called Battlecars

Amusingly, I live like 5 minutes from Warhammer World, yet I still haven\'t had a look round the miniatures display yet. Although I regularly frequent the gaming hall for tournaments, and of course Bugmans.

I am quite lucky as I live not far from Warhammer World and go there quite a lot. Bugmans bar is great and I ahve got one or two of the minis from time to time for various friends.

I enjoyed my visit to Warhammer World a few years ago. Sadly the museum was being refurbed and there wasn\'t that much to see. John Blanches Siege Diorama is one of my favourites and was one of the first mini models I ever saw, and subsequently got me hooked on this hobby.

None of my mates have an interest anymore so I haven\'t got anyone I can blag into going along with me.

Great pics Fredwinu.....I was there a few weeks ago on my birthday, took loads of pics but the glare from the glass in there killed most of them Lol lol The car game was called Dark Future by the way.....102,my first White Dwarf has the Dark Future driver pic on the cover so I always remember that :D @Macbrown--I had to drag a non collector there too as I don\'t know anyone who collects.....still worth the trip though for sure!

Wow!
Thanks for sharing pix with those of us from the US who are never likely to afford a plane ticket.
I never knew...
I got a jillion ideas just looking at the diorama pix.
I used to play the Warhammer Fantasy roleplaying game, which I believe they\'ve sold off to someone else now, so the bar sounds like fun to me.
Thanks again for sharing.

@Celthulhu - I think they sometimes hire out the bar to roleplay groups. I know I\'ve seen people dressed as Elves and Knights going into the bar after tournaments

:D

That diorama was done by Mike Mc Vey I think and is an old one for Warhammer Quest, I can find the images in WD and scan and post them if anyone wants clearer pics of it. As for the museum I think it is great to see all those painted studio minis but I have to say that the older version for me was more interesting as you used to have all the big Games Day dioramas like the Siege of the Emperors Palace and there was one with Preatorian Guard attacking an ork outpost and there was a 40k scale Gargant on that plus there were two or three others including the entire Ultramrine Chapterincluding armour and thunderhawks. Then you had the historical part which was a showcase of minis and games from over the years and in display cabinets on the walls you had the studio minis. I expect that alot of these things have gotten damaged over time and the actual building was undergoing big changes so change was inevitable. It is still a cool place to visit but for me not as cool as it used to be.

@ Celthulhu I think someone else was doing the Fantasy Roleplay, but maybe they bought the rights back, because a few months ago they were advertising the New Edition Rule Books in White Dwarf. Its not their main line, a bit like Warhammer Historical.

I agree the main dioramma is by McVey (Where did he go to?), but I\'m pretty sure the picture of the Siege Dioramma, just under McVey\'s was by John Blanche. It was in the first painting guide I ever had. A flimsy little thing, but I\'ve lost it now........
