Sorry for lack of progress, but I got side tracked by WoW lol. Thanks for that link, that terrain is great and has given me a lot of inspiration, I only hope this turns out half as good as that.

Does anyone know a good/cheap way of making some search lights, like the ones used to signal Batman? I know FW do some but I aint paying £10 each as I want one for each corner. I was thinking bottle cap with paperclip mesh over it, but the ideas not quite forming right.

I like the idea of some LED's but haven't got a clue about elctronics can I just wire them up or am I going to need transisitors etc (only thing I remember about circuits from school!). I do have one of those chunky cuboid batteries (12v?) but thats going to be a bit big to accomodate, will they run from an aa battery?

I'm definitely going to add some pipes but where,lol

cutting up a torch may be a way but i'm sure there was a guide for making a usb powered bat signal on instructables all you'd really need to do differently is change the powersource from usb to battery and not put the bat signal on it maybe

Try a google of model train searchlights. I know they at least used to make em' because I have a couple, but I got them years ago when I was a kid. They're 12v DC so could be rigged to run on a battery.

Cheers, I was looking online at the model train ones yesterday and I can get some pre wired ones which I can just daisy chain to a battery. The question now is what colour to get. I'm leaning towards amber at the moment. I am planning on putting them down the join between the panels which have the triangles cut out, as these are thicker "spokes" joining the centre piece.

No progress over the weekend, but here's a shot from Friday night of the pad in use;
