so gd has been (for those who went) and today I was thinking, that \"I want to win the slayer sword\" sort of stupid I know as im a \"youngblood\" but I just fealt that I want to beat the record of 15 years old. I really must be an idiot since to win the slayer sword I need to enter and adult catogrie.
the problem is that adults seem to be alot better than me.
Im also \"going\" to win the open competion.
so now theres a problem, I havent got 1 idea about what to paint/sculpt/convert
so If you have an idea that you dont \"need\" then let me no, either pm or on this thread. and if it wins Ill give the credit to you and put it on this site.
I dont have any pics either of my \"skill\" (thats what I call it) BUT not this gd but the last one (where bill won his first deamon, silver)
on the yb stand was a logan grimnar model, it didnt get to the finals but it was on one of the middle shelfs, if you have seen that then times that (the \"skill\" by three and thats were I am now.
so PLEASE put an idea on here or pm to tell me.and help break the record, I also am not as \"famous\" as some of the other youngbloods that have actually won but I think with a good idea I can win a deamon.

so here is the \"criteria\"
1-I use a limited paltte of up to five colours, there are differant shades in those five but with as little as three colours my models stand out.

2- its not impossible. dont try and do things like suggest sculpting a living saint or anything

3-not lotr
I just dont like the lotr range

You are setting yourself some high targets to aim at, but if you never take aim you\'ll never hit them.
So here\'s a couple of suggestions:

The single figure categories are usually the largest number of enteries so your figure is going to need to be really eyecatching from the \"get-go\", think about the new releases that GW have for the next year and see what takes your fancy.
I\'d suggest that you have a couple of \"fall back\" options as well so that you can choose which is your personal favourite.

Don\'t be afraid to seek advice from others as to the painting and if it\'s constructive and viable criticism act upon it. (Ask Paul Evans to give you an honest critique.)

Look at the past winners in the categories you are aiming to enter and study carefully the painting standards.

Get the GW catalog\'s and trawl through them picking out models you want to paint. Then see if there is any conversion possibilities ect...

Then once you have a vague idea, sketch your ideas down, and start breaking it into parts for assembly painting.

It\'s useless asking people for ideas they havn\'t used, as you will never have the inspiration or will to paint them up to a GD standard.

I know its hard to win the slazer sword BUT I have a plan.
so im entering 3 catogries
1.youngbloods. im entaring this is as a \"fallback\"
2.40k single mini. this is were im hoping to win the deamon. im currently working on the model wich is the emporers guard, adeptus custodius, I maz swap round with yb on this one as im sculpting the whole figuere exept for the arms weapons and head.
3.large scale. on this im doing the inq scale jugde but im going to sculpt on some of those wigs.

part of the plan is to use contrasting colours, this is to get them into the finals then the deatail im putting on should win me the slayer sword :D
sam I do have msn
check your pm

Don\'t wanna sound disheartening, but if you are having to ask others what you should do for an entry I think the Slayer Sword is rather beyond you. Whilst I\'m sure most folks dream of the sword, I think it may be a better plan to enter the next GD with rather more modest goals, otherwise you are just going to end up disappointed.

Obviously I don\'t know your level of abilities, but I think it would be foolish for even someone like Bill, (who won YB this year and is a pretty phenomonal painter) to enter a standard category and have high expectations of getting the Sword. The level is just crazy good.

Why not aim at getting a trophy in YB and final cut in the other categories, something a bit more modest, and if you do better than that it\'s a bonus.

Have to agree with the above post on this.
You may be an amzing painter I don\'t know but.....and this is a big but!
The painting isn\'t the ultimate factor in winning. The idea and the execution of it is that extra factor that pushes a brilliant model into the amazing.

Its no good using someone elses idea, its never the same. You need to be \"involved\" with it from the beginning.
Don\'t get me wrong I love your confidence, I suffer from the same problem but you need to base it in reality. Fishing for ideas is not a good start.

Hi there. If you are serious about winning a trophy, I highly suggest dedicating yourself to one entry and not allowing distractions. Take all of the time that you need on that one entry, don\'t rush absolutely ANYTHING. This is my best advice for you, lifted it off Silphid. :)

catogries im entering
wfb single- wardancer lord
yb- kistlew noble woman from gotrik and felix
large scale-http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Individual&code=99061399065&orignav=300808
(but converted)
lotr single-sauron the necromancer
(with nmm, osl and blue not green)

im entering these catogries because they are apently weaker than the 40k catogries.
if I can get some pics I will but I dont understand how to get them from \"my computer/my pictures\" to the internet.

the cameras a samsonite if that helps (not sure what \"model\" though)

Open a photobucket (or any other image hosting site) account. Go to the upload section of the account, click browse until you find your mypictures file, click on the picture you want then click on upload. As simple as that. Photobucket even gives you all the urls you need for pasting into various programmes, including using the BB code that\'s used on forums like these.

however this is at my WORST (I was really tired) and iv cleaned it up a bit.
the freehand ship is also the bottom of my freehand skills.
so basiccly im much better than this.
I dont have any other models either (to show you) but this should give you an idea of what the worst of my skill is.
I also push myself more on competition models.

No offence little buddy, but you have a long way to go from what you just posted to This years Sword Winner by David Rodriguez

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but you have many many years ahead of you of hard work and practice. Your a young kid, if you had said I want to win it by the time Im 20 Id say great ambition..saying you want to win it next year is well a bit of a dream.

Prtactice Practice practice.

If you can take pics and post them now, why don\'t you show us one of your better minis? For instance, you say you\'ve tidied that ogre up a bit.

My earlier advice still stands, but I\'m going to be harsher.

You will not win the sword at your level if you\'re spreading yourself out over four categories. Just the truth.. concentrate on one single entry! I cannot stress this enough. I\'m terrible at this myself, but am trying to do a proper GD entry this year.

Anyhow, I hope you hear me out this time around.. ;)

well I do have a rough plan.

from now to christmas im wardancer lord wich will be my wfb single.

christmas till easter I do the judge.

easter till summer I do a new entry wich is \"st catherine\" for the 40k single.

summer till autumn I do the sauron the necromancer model.

if I dont have enough time on one model I just do It in my free time.
im also not sure wether or not ot mis out wfb single and concentreate on the others OR put the wardancer lord in youngbloods.

I know I may not have pesuaded you but HAVE FAITH
I can and will win.
as an example you could say skatebourding (pretty random but bare with me) you want too go down a ramp but your not sure-you dont want to fall-
but if you KNOW your going down that ramp, skating to the next one then doing an ollie onto the platform then your will go down the ramp, go to the next one and probbably fall of, BUT YOU WENT DOWN THE RAMP.
the point is-if the first ramp is a yb goden deamon-the next ramp is a adult deamon-and the ollie is the sword. then at the LEAST im going to win a yb, maybe a adult deamon. and if I can pull it off, a sword.:cool:
