i woudl be throwing out that craft glue and find something else. but then i have a 5 year old bottle of WS realistic water that i have never used. i guess they made it with a great seal cause its still fluid.

i think for terrain people use for waterfalls and pools a type of clear epoxy. 2 parter maybe. i will have to check my terrain sites to find out what, but it is nearly crystal clear and with little effort can add ripples with minimal drying time...in case you knocked the mini or base over while doing something else.

i will find the info for you in case you wish to try another watery base to make a whole unit of these or just want to try other waterway bases.

EDIT:
ok so its resin not epoxy, but it is two parts...

http://www.hirstarts.com/tipsmain/tipsmain.html

just search the page for tips on \"water\" #14 cites the cost at $10 for the 8oz \"kit\" of Envirox lite.

so maybe Realistic Water by Woodland Scenics would be cheaper at  its up to $16 for 16 oz. and all you got to do is pour it on and wait.

both cure in 24 hours. not as short as i was thinking. lol

yeah one day I\'ll prob pick up some real fake water but atm I just wanted to kick out this one base lol it actually turned out good lookin in person the pic doesn\'t really show it off. and I doubt it\'d work for thick stands of water but I got it maybe 1/8th an inch in 3 layers

i think you are on to something with bases. dead areas, and foliage everywhere. you don\'t see the slotta bases totally covered in water enough.

only thing its missing now is a salmon swimming upstream! lol

try yacht varnish for small amounts of water. it\'s hard as nails, super glossy and has a slight brownish tint that looks quite good for realistic water

I actually wanted a lil critter, after giving up on making a tiny lizard I made a snake he\'s all painted up and lookin good and slithery, but my idea of small ended up longer in an s shape then the base was wide. lol instead of a lil water snake I made a baby anaconda.

not a bad idea but hows the fumes on that I\'d imagine most varnish being pretty foul. My work area is not well ventilated
:|~ I don\'t want to gas myself

Please give your votes for the new version! Linky

Friar,
most of the water effects are either white glue or thickened white glue.

Try plain white elmers for the water and the gold bottle of tacky glue for the effects.

Only comment on the base is that the rock is underwater although it is sticking up. This makes it look like the elf is running on water (which is kinda cool in itself, but tugs on the believablity node)

Maybe a ripple/splash around the foot - or make the rock stand out from the water better.

one problem

dont know if it has been pointed out but hes running ON TOP of the water

i think you should have stuck him to the base first and done the water affects over his foot

just my opinion

no. this still frame was captured when the Banshee was just landing on the rock and therefore the effects of the water moving have been stopped prior to causing a ripple around the foot.

sucks the snake was too big. maybe a couple of water spiders dancing with the banshee across the top of the water?

no idea how you could do them so small though.

this whole think make me want to do a bunch of marines stomping through a coy pond.

but i have to do my quicksand IG first.

the rock sticks up from the water a decent bit, just lost in the pics, unfortunatly I can\'t change the color too much as it has to match somewhat the half thats under water. In person it\'s pretty easy to see whats in water and out. Just stinks that the pics don\'t show it better. lol I hate to paint it so it shows in the pic but looks silly in real life. Next time I\'ll definatly use white glue probally alot easier to manipulate and faster drying.

maybe this will show it better

maybe next base I do like this I\'ll leave the bottom of the water mud instead of adding small stones keep contrast that way?

oh lol I was meaning just have one stone in the center for the mini to be on and the base be painted a mud brown with water effect ontop of that, mainly so there\'s a nice grey center with a brown ring. as this one is the large stone and lil tiny stones surrounding it. that way the water effect would have more brown to reflect instead of a grey center and grey and brown around it.

OH!. ok then i guess you wouldn\'t need to worry about splashed mud up on the armor and clothing then since it would still be stepping on rocks.

just hope the rock don\'t wiggle or else its back to ripples. lol

so that\'s why they are always so bright colored! not the brightlances but the colors ran because the bleach!

anywho. i think you got something here and im not gonna steal it. i would love to see more wet motif bases. that is ones not wet due to blood spillage but actual environment conditions.
