Good source for basing materials?

The mention of foody-spices reminded. I once used a pea. It was there, left after a meal. When a proper green pea dries out it takes on a peculiar shape. Looked quite appropriate shoved on a chaos champion's base.
Didn't know then about the sealing requirement, and the bugger slowly folded in on itself till nothing was left. Chaos eh.

I generally buy cheap bird grit which comes in different grades from fine to rough. Also, for bits like rocks or cliff faces i use tree bark off of those old trees that get a really craggy bark on them (sycamore trees i think). If you look around the base of the tree you can get some really good bits that have just fallen off so you dont need to be chipping away at the tree and causing damage.
