Anyone any thoughts on this:

GamesDay2009-Miniature.jpg

I can\'t decide if I like it or not.

What are other people\'s views? (on a sidenote, anyone know how the hell they painted it? )

Looks pretty good to me, I like how they provided such a big photo. There seems to be loads of cool NMM jobs by \'Eavy Metal cropping up lately!

Think its quite nice, i just wish they would do a bigger job of the gd mini at times, maybe a nice little diorama instead, some sort of little scene.

Its definitely nicer than last years marine and a good base for a lot of top paintjobs and conversions

I disagree, only from a gamers perspective. It\'s nice to be able to play with the figs. \'Course I won\'t be getting any this year for the first time in about 5 years so that sort of stinks!

Even the Harry the Hammer model, which is awesome, just comes with so much stuff I have to leave out to get the fig down to a gaming size.

But that\'s me.

With a brush and some paint? :p

It\'s not a space marine, and that immediately raises the interest level for me. Tis rather funky.

I don\'t see anything special about it... It\'s nice and all, just not \'special. :drunk:

As disappointing as last years maybe more so. Nothing special, I remember back in 97 when I got a lead keyring bolt pistol, now that was cool.

It looks like a mini with some character rather than \"just a marine\". Hopefully they\'ll come up with a bit of background and maybe some special rules like they did for Badrukk Eadsplitter.

Whilst the bolt pistol keyring was pretty cool (I somehow ended up with two  ) the metal was too soft for it to be used as an actual keyring and it was ultimately rather useless in the grand scheme of things. I\'d much rather have a characterful mini that I can incorporate into a game or two.

Oo the wit, from a woman no less! ;) [just kidding]

I agree that it\'s nice to play with a single fig rather than have a diorama, a keyring sounds cheap to me, i\'d much rather the mini, and it\'s defiantely an improvement on the marine. It reminds me of something that they should have released as a chaos champion.

I\'d have rathered of had a Special Character like Valia or Vilitch or something, make them truly collectors miniature. I will be picking this up though. Head swap and it would be great.

I like it apart from the spiky bit on the top of the head.

The model itself was sculpted by Martin Footit and here\'s a picture of it in white dwarf when it had less horns or spiky bits.

Just the other day I was wondering if they were going to ever release that Martin Footit model, it looked really good. This guy would be a welcome addition to my collection, but I would definitely have to do something about his weapon combo. XHW is pretty weak compared to any of the other options, and I\'m not a huge fan of axes anyway. Maybe he could be a sorceror, just change one axe to be a staff?

I wonder why they changed the sculpt though. The cloak got a lot bigger, the helmet and axe got spikier, and they added one more impaled skull to his shoulder. Most of the changes are fine by me, but I wonder why they messed with the lines of the cloak so much. The freehand trim really accentuates that strange line.

Well to be honest it\'s not the most inspiring figure in the world, but no doubt there will be several high quality versions out.
Looking forward to seeing it as a Khornate warrior.

I wonder if GW would ever consider doing, as Salute does, a separate comp for the previous years Gamesday figure?
Might improve the figure.

:innocent:

As most people have said already really it is a nice model but...

As soon as I saw it I immediately thought of another model because of the two axe pose.

Brilliant figure. I remember seeing it posted in White Dwarf a while back (the smaller picture that Fat Lad posted). It will be awesome to get to paint this figure. I\'ll probably have to buy a spare or two (or three) :D

That\'s a good idea Dragonsreach.
