Flaming Tikis WIP and random ramblings spot

Thank you all for the comments. I was a bit hesitant to start that freehand, having been some many years since I have used a traditional paintbrush for 2d art. Looking forward to doing more of it.
I've been bouncing around my WIPs as usual for me. Going to stick with Vulkan for now, but there are some projects I just can't wait to share, all in good time. Back to Vulkan. I was unsure about the green armor before beginning, but I got over it. Pretty happy with the direction things are going.

The little guy is a call idea. You should have them doing father and son stuff like flying a kite or something ????????????

[FONT=&quot]Darthmarsh, that is a great idea! I was only showing them both for scale, I hadn't considered using them together.
If you have looked through my posts, you may notice that i bounce around quite a bit with my projects. A good portion of the time that is because I am working on something I care about and run into "how do I do this?" That will prompt me to start something I "care less" about in order to work out my stumbling block. Case in point here. I have a cool mini that I want do OSL on. My past attempts: not so good. So I had this Sister on deck and the other project is Sisters, so I decided to find a base that would allow for OSL. This also allowed me to gain more confidence with NMM gold trim. Anyway, here she is after three and half to four hours of work.

Still refining the above sister(that you all liked soooo much,LOL), no pics though. I have so many irons in the fire ATM. A Wallhalla display almost finished, a Hulk Chevy emblem for my buddys truck. some barbarians, and others getting close but receiving no attention. All that aside Conrad Curze here has been demanding that I turn the bushes towards him.
C&C always sought!

Great work on the Sister, the glow effect works very well.
It breaks down a bit in the transition on the cloth, where the glow fades into the red - what I would suggest is to make that transition darker than both the glowy bit below and the red cloth above.
Sounds counter-intuitive, because you'd think the red of the cloth above should be even darker, but that tends to work on the stuff where I've tried this.

I like the metal on Conrad! Those are some great transitions and sharp reflections!

Thanks for the responses. You are absolutely correct Chris, that is exactly what I had done before reading your response.
Finally added to my personal gallery of completed projects. Wait, what? Did Joe actually finish something? Yep, bound to happen sooner or later. Here's the link. I should replace the pic with a multi-pose shot, for now though, I'm happy just to put it in the gallery.View attachment 82045
Todays diversionary project is a little NMM gold exercising. Following the Rogal Dorn tutorial from Lil Legend Studio I'm diggin' the results thus far (still quite a bit to do)View attachment 82044

The Sister looks great and I really like the OSL. I’ve not seen the Gold NMM tutorial but iMd be interested in a link if you have one?

@ Darthmarsh Follow the link in the post to his Patreon, he has some free tutes on his website as well. I have so much catching up to do. Both on commenting to the great work posted by others and showing my own work as well. Planning on some quality time with my camera today, so hopefully more to come. For now though, so this isn't only a "promise to post" post:
AIN'T HE CUTE!...

Okay, apologies for the "radio silence". Because Mr. Murphy is a constant companion in my life, I should've known better than to announce my intentions in the last post. Specifically in regards to spending time with my camera. I posted. then grabbed my camera, just under one year old camera. You know what's coming. It made some odd noises and would not function. I checked the warranty and weirdly, I was in luck, by a week! Anywho, It was sent back to Olympus, they have fixed it and it should be back in my shaky, withdrawal affected hands in a few days. I have attempted to take some shots with my old camera and phone. Got a couple just about acceptable shots, mostly no go though. This has caused me a bunch of stress as there are things being held up (remember the group base St Toad started?). Whew! Rant over.
A post here just isn't complete w/o a pic. Here is Angel of Glory from 3DArtGuy. A super detailed model that challenged my ability to support a 3d sculpt for printing. It also pushed the limits of my printer settings. Now it continues to challenge in the paint dept. Around 90-95% gold NMM. Add to that blonde hair and a "tiger-like" pelt, and the similarity of the colors present yet another level of "challenge". Really having fun with it! Better pics in a few days. Ahem... hopefully.View attachment 82630

Mate you are lucky that the camera was still under warranty! :)
I hope you get it back soon in working condition.

The Angel of Glory piece looks great, is it a resin print?
The paint job is super mono-chromatic at the moment. Not a bad thing though, don't get me wrong! Are you planning on throwing in some contrasting colors at some point?

Hey Chris! Thanks for the comment. Yeah it's a print. It can be found by people who print and sell figs (Etsy). The STL, or print files are no longer available due to GW sending the creator a DMCA notice.
As to the colors, there will be more. Truth be known, there is more to it, the posted pic, while looking pretty good is actually a really poor pic. The colors are way off in it. Should get my camera back tomorrow. I have so much more to do to the Angel, at the moment I'm just trying to edge highlight all the details. ALL the details, so many. If you look at the right forearm you can get a feel of my base coat, I haven't gone into any edges there yet.
