Fishtank Scenery

Looking for cool chead scenery? Check out your local pet dept. Some of the fishtank scenery would be outright alien if re-painted. Super cheap too.

Heres one I\'m working on for my Necron Fields. just added skulls, pulled out fake grass, and painted. Plan on adding green crystal formations later.

I\'ve thought it andf tempted to do the same thing but not willing to pay the 15 bucks they want for crappy fishtank bits.

you damn right there mike! have thought about this in past but they are ridiculously expensive for the tat that they are. if i ever get fish, it\'ll be cheaper to add forgeworld stuff!! (ok maybe thats taking it a little far)

forgeworld: is it worth it?

Yeah, Ive frequently expierenced problems with stiff lumber when browsing FW\'s catalog. Never having bought any, is it really worth all that jack?

(Allways wanted a Titan & Thunderhawk)

do they fit well, or alot of gaps to fill?

never bought anything big from them bu have bought the atlas conversion kit i think. the tank recovery one with the crane type thing on it. found that it required a lot of work to get it looking ok. i personally wouldn\'t risk it on something that costs over £100. but you\'d be better off asking others as this is the only thing i have bought and may have been unlucky

Nah, dont think luck has anything to do w/ it. Ive worked in Plastic injection before; all parts should be identical (sept for maybe flashing) If it dosnt fit properly, I chalk that up to bad research. (and thats really sad considering their access to kits and the ducats they charge)

Kewl Pics - Diaorama

Here\'s the Pics as primised. Let me know what you think. Thinking about adding a Neccy climbing up the rocks behind standing Neccy.

Also does the gate look feasible?
If it does I\'ll cast one to fit opening. (this ones from monolith)

lol Neccy looks like Swartzanegger riding in on a chicken! lol
Used destroyer (torso up) on warrior legs.
too tiny?

if the gate idea pans out, I\'ll half a warrior and have him emerging from it.

Shreks tree

Here\'s something i found at a yard sale for .25 cent: A tree from a Shrek playset.
Okay, it\'s not fish tank scenery, but it shows you dont have to go balls out on $cenery.

After priming and extensive hours, brush in hand:

Finished pic will have model for scale.

Looking back, I think I should have given the metal a more distressed look.
Oh Well!!!

I\'m always intrigued by the stuff from the pet store, but in the end I believe that I could get better results from scratchbuilding. However, if you are on a tight timeframe, or have no patience to build your own, fishtank stuff is good.
