It just takes practice, but do it the way you want. Nothing could be simpler than the idea of having to work at something to achieve :D

After 14 years of painting the eyes last. I tried the various methods, and I decided to change.

I found it easier to paint the base coat for the skin, the main skin tone, and then paint the eyes before starting the highlight and shadow phase, this give me enough of the dark socket to paint the eyes and mend any mistakes made, but allows me to see the general layout of the skin on the face.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I will always hate painting eyes, but you get a sense of satisfaction when both eyes are looking in the same direction. :duh:

I paint the the base skintone in first, followed by putting two dabs of white, or ivory in each corner of the socket, depending on where you want the figure to be looking.
