Elric's Work in Progress and random crap thread

Well, Since i had the foresight to name my last WIP thread specifically for the project I was doing, I figured I'd reboot and just use this thread for the rest of my life!
Currently working on a commission for a Grey Knight themed librarian, as well as a techmarine who is still on his way here.

The armor has been washed with Vallejo blue and black shades, now I need to go back and reintroduce the boltgun metal and vallejo air steel for the extreme highlights. Nothing but the skulls have actually been given more than a basecoat, I always end up blocking out everything with basecoats before i go back and layer/blend, that way I can get a general feel for the mood of the mini.

Here's what I'm working on for my personal collection, kingdom death Butcher and Forsaker pinup on Scibor bases (which i love!). The commission takes priority though,
so this is the state they will be in for weeks to come most likely.

Im staring at the figure right now and i dont see a seam, nor in the picture. Please show me the way for i am obviously blind!

edit: i think i may see what you mean right under the shoulder pad? if so, thats not a seam, thats just the angle of the shot, thats the shadow falling on the torso piece and it makes it look like a cavern, but i assure you it is not!

View attachment 12478That's the thing about seams. You can knock 'em down but sometimes if you get them in the right light, they pop back up again but you can't see them otherwise.I put a little box around the area I'm talking about. Like I said you can probably only see it at just the right angle.

I like it, Elric but that copper color just isn't doing it for me. It looks like you shaded and highlighted it, so I'm a bit at a loss as what to suggest. It's probably just me - I've been staring at the wolfen so long my brain gets scrambled on real metallics. lol!

The copper bits on the techmarine looks a tad flat, maybe its just the lighting. The axehead looks good though

I'll go back in and add some washes. I actually love the copper color, its the vallejo model air one and it is such a lovely color, i just haven't found a place to use it since I did some skaven awhile back. It might not be appropriate here, but I needed something to break up all this steel and I was tired of using gold!

Marj- thanks for the advice, after looking at it more and from different angels im gonna add some washes into the recesses that will hopefully make that highlight pop out more!

the Vallejo air metallics are some of my fav paints as well. I have discovered that when painting copper, bronze and similar stuff that it always gets better if I start of darker then I normally would have and work up from that. Also glazing with reds, greens and purples can yield some interesting results.

Well I just couldn't help myself. Kath painting my favorite models, now I see marj is about to join in, so I took up painting this dude. Worked on layering the skin, getting close to where I like it.

Well, it's been a very long time since i've posted on my WIP thread. I have been painting, but I've recently moved and everything has been a mess. At least now its a mess on my painting desk! I picked up super dungoen explore as soon as it was back in stock, here's the work so far, still alot of cleanup to do, faces are only basecoated at this point.

Elric - I want to see paint on your forsaker! KD models are so awesome, they demand to be painted!

Of coruse so do wolfen. And anything by Soda Pop. Hmm. I see the conundrum you're in. Come to think of it, it's the same one I'm in...

unfortunately Trys, the forsaker was snapped into many tiny pieces while being moved. I learned to give friends beer after they've finished helping move, not before :( The butcher however, is halfway painted, does that count?!

The wolfen has a bit more progress since those last pics, i just need to dig him out and snap pics. Man...I hate moving!
